We integrated the Wayve AI Driver into the Mercedes-Benz production system architecture using their hardware, MB.OS operating system, and map interfaces, demonstrating the generalization capabilities of the AI Driver, proving the potential for application in future Mercedes-Benz's vehicles, and setting the foundation for mass production development. Today, @wayve_ai announced they've signed a definitive production agreement with @MercedesBenz, its third major automaker partnership in about 9 months.
Building on the previous partnerships with @Nissan and @Stellantis, the Mercedes-Benz deal is further proof that Wayve’s strategy (pairing its shared AI driving platform with the engineering, manufacturing, and distribution of global automakers) is an approach built to scale.
The opportunity ahead is enormous. Consumers are increasingly buying new vehicles based on the quality of the AI Driver. Automakers need autonomy that works across their vehicle lineups and the markets they serve.
Since day one, @alexgkendall and the Wayve team have been hell-bent on building driving intelligence that can learn, adapt, and generalize across vehicles and environments. They pursued end-to-end AI when it was a contrarian bet, then spent years on the difficult engineering required to make it useful in the real world.
They’ve gotten where they are today because of dedication, grit, and rigorous technical collaboration. The partnership with Mercedes-Benz is the culmination of years of testing and iteration. They've integrated into Mercedes-Benz’s production architecture (and using its hardware and MB.OS) and Wayve’s AI Driver has been demonstrated on roads in Stuttgart, London, and San Francisco. Advanced driving assistance is slated to reach customers within two years.
I can’t wait for more people to experience Wayve’s AI Driver. I’ve ridden with it, and it’s the best autonomous driving experience I've had in a consumer vehicle (and this is coming from a proud Tesla FSD power user!).
Wayve’s latest milestone is an example of what sustained execution looks like. And this is why I predict Wayve will become the world’s premier provider of autonomy for consumer vehicles....and more....
