She won't be able to scale it. Building a messaging app is easy. Building one that people actually have a reason to switch to is the hard part. I don't think the goal should be for her to build “the next WhatsApp” or “the next Telegram.” From a product perspective, you're not just competing with their code. You're competing with years of user habits, massive network effects, existing contact lists, trust, infrastructure and an ecosystem people already depend on. Think about it. If I download your new messaging app today, who am I messaging? My friends are still on WhatsApp. My family is still on WhatsApp. The businesses I deal with are still on WhatsApp. So even if your app is technically better, why would I switch? That's why I think the bigger opportunity for her is to build something completely different, or build a messaging product around a very strong Nigerian-specific use case. WeChat, LINE and KakaoTalk didn't become what they are by simply being another WhatsApp. They built ecosystems and gave people more reasons to stay. The goal shouldn't be to build another WhatsApp. Build something that makes people say, “I need this, and WhatsApp doesn't give me this.” That's how you get people to switch. So yh, its not gonna be an easy ride for her.

While a lot of you are enjoying Lagos Life simulation, I’ve been watching the creator closely. What’s really caught my attention isn’t even the game itself. It’s how fast she’s shipping. Since making it public, she’s been pushing updates, adding features and constantly improving the game at a pace that’s honestly crazy. If you are tech incline you should know that she is making use of AI. And this is where AI gets interesting. You no longer need to be the best developer in the room to turn an idea into something people can actually use. You can have an idea, use AI to help you build it, put it in front of people and improve it based on what they tell you. The distance between “I have an idea” and “people are using my product” is getting ridiculously small. And Lagos Life is a perfect example. The creator has now reportedly made $46,900 in revenue in just four days. Think about that for a second. Someone took an idea, built something, shipped it publicly and found people willing to pay for it. That's something a lot of people spend years talking about without ever doing. And it gets even more interesting because another Lagos-themed game had already gone viral before Lagos Life. The creator then put her own idea out there, and now we're watching another product explode. That’s the lesson for me. Stop waiting until you feel “ready.” Stop waiting until you know everything. If you have an idea, build the first version. Ship it. Let people use it. Listen. Improve it. Repeat. AI is making that loop faster than we've ever seen. And honestly, I think we're still very early. The next generation of successful products might come from people who were never traditionally “developers” in the first place. If you've been sitting on an idea for months, maybe this is your sign to finally ship it. 👀
