Africa Web3 Intelligence #001 Africa’s web3 market is evolving past speculation Nigeria is becoming a major stablecoin and cross-border payments hub, with over $92B in on-chain value received between July 2024–June 2025. South Africa is pushing deeper into regulated, institutional crypto infrastructure, while Ghana is formalizing its virtual-asset regulatory framework. Kenya continues to sit among Africa’s major crypto markets, while Egypt and other emerging markets are developing their own mix of fintech, stablecoin and blockchain activity. Africa map market: Nigeria → stablecoins + payments South Africa → institutions + regulation Ghana → regulatory development Kenya → retail adoption + fintech Egypt → emerging digital-asset ecosystem the opportunity for web3 teams isn’t simply enter Africa. It’s understanding which market, which users, which rails and which narrative actually fit. that’s what Africa web3 Intelligence should track.

before pitching a project for an smm role, do this small audit check their last 20 posts separate announcements, education, community posts, product content and random fillers… then look at which category gets replies from actual users, not just mutuals and raiders you might discover that the project doesn’t have an engagement problem they’ve simply spent three weeks posting things nobody has a reason to respond to that observation alone gives you a better opening message

The deeper issue with failed web3 campaigns is usually not reach. It’s rarely because the campaign didn’t get enough people. It’s because the campaign was designed to measure activity instead of outcomes. Look at what happened across some of the biggest airdrop/points campaigns. LayerZero had millions of wallets interact with the protocol, yet its Sybil process eventually involved huge numbers of flagged addresses, self-reports, bounty hunters and tens of thousands of appeals. The campaign created activity not users. And that distinction is where most campaigns go wrong. 👇

4. The reward attracts farmers, not your ideal users This is probably the biggest problem with points campaigns. If you reward clicks, people generate clicks. Reward tweets, people generate tweets. Reward transactions, people manufacture transactions. Reward wallets, people create wallets. The campaign will attract exactly the behavior you pay for. That’s why projects like Optimism, LayerZero and others have had to deal with large-scale Sybil filtering and wallet removal. The problem isn't always the users. Sometimes the incentive was simply designed to invite gaming.

5. There is no conversion path This is the part projects ignore. Someone sees the campaign. Then what? Follow, join Telegram, complete task, then disappear. That's not a funnel. A proper campaign should have a path: Attention → qualification → activation → conversion → retention → advocacy Every stage should have a reason for existing. If you gained something new ensure to retweet

Your first 100 Web3 hires--who should you actually hire? Been watching how a lot of teams hire after launch and there’s a pattern. Project launches. Then suddenly everyone wants community managers, KOL managers, marketers and BDs. Nothing wrong with those roles. 👇

People joining but not staying → fix product + community. People talking about the project but nobody understands it → fix content + positioning. And honestly, you probably don't need 30 people on day one. You need a small group of people who can actually move things.

Then as the project grows, you build around them. Headcount looks good on LinkedIn. Execution is what people notice onchain.
