I'm not sure I understand. The direct quote doesn't state is as light travel time but is "3.8 billion light-years away" - which is distance. Isn't it kind of like Han Solo using parsecs to talk about time it took him to finish Kessel Run? Wait...was Han Solo the cosmologist?

This is incredible, but is the distance correct? it should be 4.35 billion light years away BUT the light took 3.8 billion years to reach us. best to communicate large distances in red shifts as it confuses people otherwise. (redshift for this was measured to be 0.335)
