At The Wildlife Trusts, we’re passionate about nature’s recovery and creating an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and safe. That’s why we’re no longer posting here.
Taking our tweets elsewhere. We’re continuing to speak up for nature and sharing a little bit of everyday wildlife joy on our other social media channels and our mailing list, so join us there if you haven’t already. And with 13 nature reserves across Sheffield & Rotherham, we hope to see you in person too!
Join us in congratulating Liz Ballard, who has been awarded an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours List in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the environment over her 13 years as CEO of Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust! wildsheffield.com/liz-ballar…

NOTE: the car parks can get very busy in half term week. Did you know you can avoid the hassle ofparking and get to those glorious autumn colours by bus? Wyming Brook and Fox Hagg are both accessible from the Lodge Moor No. 51 bus terminus. See travelsouthyorkshire.com/get…
This September, visit one of our heathland reserves using the @BetterPointsSHF app & you could win a Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust membership! Membership includes: nature reserve guide, free access to Wildlife Trust sites, Wild About Gardens booklet & Kingfisher magazine.
Huge thanks to the Sheffield 1000 Club for donating £1,000 to support the Help Our Heathlands appeal!
Their generosity helps protect rare habitats & species like the Nightjar & Green Hairstreak Butterfly💚
We’ve secured funding from @FCC_Communities to begin re-wetting work at Kilnhurst Ings this autumn!
A big win for wading birds like snipe & lapwing, plus dragonflies & damselflies - especially after the driest spring in 100 years. wildsheffield.com/reserves/k…
We’ve received funding from @VeoliaTrust to enhance Wyming Brook & Fox Hagg! This means better habitats for species like the pied flycatcher, tawny owl, wood warbler & nightjar 🐦 Plus, improved access so everyone can enjoy nature 💚
Have you heard the nightjar’s eerie, engine-like “churr” this summer? These mysterious birds stir only at dusk, often heard but rarely seen. Spotting one is a magical moment - have you experienced it yet? 🐦✨

Plants like himalayan balsam & bracken can be a real problem on our nature reserves, creating mono-cultures that are poor habitat and outcompete native plants. So let's celebrate our volunteers who are out battling these villainous invasives every week! #InvasiveSpeciesWeek
