GM🫡 Two years. I walked into Ethereum #MOODENG on Oct 4, 2024. Today is Oct 4 again. I stayed because I didn’t understand memes well enough, and because I was fixed on Vitalik adopting the hippo. I thought alts and memes would explode again like 2021. Two years later, I know that lesson came late. Ethereum memes never got that wave. The figurehead has been gone for over a year. The tokens are still there. The person is not. The site got restricted. Retail is still in the chats and on the timeline, holding a story up with time and bags. I still want to say the two years out loud. We didn’t come only to bet a name. The hippo is real. The zoo is real. On Dec 26, 2024 Vitalik publicly became adoptive father, donated about 10M THB, and set aside 88 ETH. He said “next 2 years.” That window runs to Dec 26, 2026. Those were two years for an animal, not a promise on price. A lot of us stacked the two things together. I did too. What I saw: a narrative can be warm while liquidity is cold. Charity can be real and price can still refuse to reward endurance. Retail grit should not be treated as fuel. Without someone who keeps showing up, a community is just people keeping each other warm. I accept that now. I still hope Vitalik does not forget. Not a ticker. The hippo he publicly adopted. The two years he wrote down. And the ordinary people on Ethereum who treated “do good” as the floor of a meme, through FUD, a black swan, and silence. Maybe #MOODENG is undervalued. Not only in price. In the people who didn’t leave: still translating, still backing each other up, still keeping something decent alive with no leader on stage. If there is a real showing before the window closes, that would be a receipt for these two years. If not, they were not empty. I at least learned that faith should not sit on whether someone returns.
