What’s so wild about this take is … thinking that NASCAR houses the best racing talent in America. We truly have no idea if it does because you can quite literally buy your way in. NFL, NBA, MLB … yeah … those are the most talented guys in the world at what they do. But in NASCAR your grandfather could have a lot of money and BOOM you’re a NASCAR driver. It’s literally the only professional American sport where we really don’t know … “wait are these guys the best?” Some are sure. KB was, Larson obviously is, Hamlin, etc. But the rest? Bobby Pierce, RTJ, Gravel, etc are all JUST as good as half that field if not more on Sunday’s. Period. And that shouldn’t be a hot take. You can’t start at middle linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens just because you have money. Doesn’t work that way. The NFL and other leagues I mentioned above will go to the END OF THE EARTH to uncover talent and all that matters is can you play or not. But not in Cup. And that’s a huge bummer that has tricked people for a long time.
Kyle Larson looks really good when he’s racing against farmers, insurance agents, and Kasey Kahne
