Natürlich wäre auf Jahre auch gar keine Bedrohung des Baltikums zu erwarten. Alles Panikmache also, so der plötzlich aktive Agitator für Panzer und gegen Drohnen.
why the doomers of the world are freaking out.....
Why do so many Europeans talk about an imminent Russian invasion of the Baltics or the eastern flank? It's simple, and it comes down to two things.
First, it's used as PR to motivate the population. If there's no threat, nobody enlists, nobody spends money on weapons, nobody digs fortifications or bunkers, and nobody prepares for the unthinkable. Governments need to mobilize their people, and fear does that more effectively than anything else.
Second, it is a real threat, just not an imminent one. It's not a threat today or tomorrow. It may come three to five years down the road, but not now. A lot of the people pushing this narrative have no military background, no military history, have never taken a military class, and don't understand logistics. The fact is that in 2026, 2027, and going forward, anyone moving a large amount of equipment toward a national border around Russia will be seen. We will know in advance, and we will be prepared.
Right now, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, together with their NATO partners, have far more troops on the ground than Russia could ever amass at that border in any reasonable timeframe. Each of the three Baltic republics has at least two divisions of its own, plus another NATO division stationed there, which comes to nine full divisions in the Baltics alone. Add roughly twelve divisions of Polish and partner forces in Poland, and probably six more in Romania.
The fact is, even if the war in Ukraine ended today and Russia pulled everything back, it would still take years to get ready to fight again. And when that day came, Russia wouldn't be facing a Ukraine-type opponent with a marginal air force. It would be facing the largest combat-ready air force in the world: NATO's. For that fight, Russia is decades away from being able to respond.
