Why is Canada seeking to deepen economic and security ties with an oppressive, autocratic regime? On Wednesday, Foreign Minister @AnitaAnandMP announced plans to "deep collaboration" with Qatar, the middle east regime that is a refuge for the terrorist organization Hamas and where a same-sex relationship can get you 7 years in prison. Qatar state textbooks also teach "Treachery and treason are among the traits of the Jews" and any women 25 and under need male guardian permission to marry or travel abroad. Economic growth is important for a strong Canada, but means very little if our core values are compromised or discarded to get it.

He called it risk management, not a base case. Fair enough. Leaders should plan for remote disasters. What is not fair is treating that remote scenario as the serious security story while brushing past a more concrete warning from Russia. After Canada announced a drone co-production deal with Ukraine, Moscow branded Canada a “warmonger,” said it would publish the addresses of Canadian drone facilities, and reserved the right to an “adequate response.” Russian officials also said they would factor the deal into military and political planning. That is not a hypothetical from a newspaper interview. It is a public threat aimed at Canadian industry. If Carney, and figures such as Solomon, Mulcair, and Bob Rae, were as alarmed about attacks on Canada as the U.S. commentary suggests, that Russian warning would be front and centre. It has not been. Ottawa has offered little public concern and has instead doubled down on supplying the war. That choice needs an honest explanation. Canada is not a bystander. It is helping produce drones that will be used in a grinding war whose human cost falls first on Ukrainians. Supporters call this solidarity. Critics see a government more committed to a 2014 political settlement they regard as illegitimate than to the Ukrainian public now living with the consequences. Carney can study tail risks in Washington. He should also explain why a Russian threat against Canadian drone sites rates so much less urgency than a scenario he himself says is not the base case.

So, PM Carney can reveal to the NYT that he ran US invasion scenarios, but the Gordie Howe bridge documents and US-Canada trade terms he walked away from can’t be shared with… the Canadian Parliament. Questions anyone?

Push will come to shove when the frame will not pay the bill. When the plant is gone. When the grocery receipt is longer than the speech. How things work according to Mark Carney: If Donald Trump increases taxes (tariffs) on Canada it causes inflation and things get more expensive. If Mark Carney increases taxes (carbon taxes) on Canada it doesn't cause inflation and things to be more expensive. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Is he really an economist??

Your same old @liberal_party achieved the 2% spending requirement on paper using accounting tricks that did absolutely nothing to make the CAF larger, more lethal, more deployable or more effective. Example A, you transferred the Coast Guard’s budget to DND but didn’t integrate their command structure, meaning an additional $800+ million gets added to defence spending, but the Coast Guard isn’t actually under the control of the national defence department. Example B, you are renovating barracks & married quarters across the country which includes millions in landscaping. Those millions are now being counted towards the 2% requirement. Is good landscaping now an effective motivator to kill bad guys? Example C, for the first time, you applied the entire capital costs of weapons & ammunition purchases that will be delivered over multiple years, in a single year. Example D, you applied the entire capital cost associated with building new infrastructure to support future weapons (specifically the hundreds of millions being spent on new secure high tech hangers for the F35’s & the initial construction for the OTHR system) in a single year instead of amortizing the costs over the 3-5 year building cycle that is currently forecast. Achieving a goal for the sake of some short term political bragging is so typical of the new & old Liberal Party! It’s pitiful, you know it, CDN’s know it, NATO knows it but they couldn’t care less because if push comes to shove, the serious NATO countries already know Canada has little to offer by way of a military response.

.@JMilei stood at the UN and told them the truth they did not want to hear. This organization is useless. It failed to stop chaos, violence, and international terrorism. It shelters bloodthirsty dictatorships that stone women in the streets. The people running it are not peacemakers. They are arrogant parasites pretending to be bureaucrats. Instead of dealing with the real problems in the world they just keep voting against Israel. They stay silent on Islamic terrorism and on the killing of Christians in Africa. Every word was right.

It was the Israeli government itself that placed Hamas in power and saw that it was fully funded in order to make a two-state solution more difficult. There is also now strong evidence that they knew in advance of the attack.
