Because I joke with you doesn’t mean you should disregard the rules or fail to respect authority.
Some Nigerian ladies can be so foolish sometimes, to the extent that they respect someone overseas who does nothing for them more than the person right here in Nigeria who is responsible for them and gives them direction.
How foolish is that?
I gave you a direct instruction, and your response was, “Our oga in the UK should be the one to tell us.”
I am the supervisor here. Without my approval and signature, you are not officially cleared to operate under my supervision. You cannot selectively choose which authority to respect simply because another person is abroad.
I have made my decision.
I’m sorry to say this, but I fired two junior colleagues today immediately after I resumed office.
They called the UK boss to explain the situation. His response was very clear:
“If you cannot respect him when you see him physically, then you don’t respect me either. His decision stands.”
Authority is authority, whether the person is in Nigeria or overseas.
Joking with people does not mean you should take their position for granted. Know the difference between friendliness and weakness.
