If you're a woman, understand that the right man, the man who is going to be your husband someday, the man who actually wants to marry you, he's going to yearn for you. And that's completely okay. He should, as long as you're also reciprocating that energy: 1/4

HOW AN AVOIDANT ACTS WHEN YOU’RE JUST AN OPTION VS. WHEN YOU’RE THE ONE: 1. Communication Option:1/9

LET’S BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR AVOIDANT They don’t create distance because they’re “confused.” They create distance because closeness makes them uncomfortable. And instead of saying that, they create distance. And here’s the part no one wants to admit: your avoidant is completely okay with things being unclear… as long as it works for them. They’ll come close when they feel like it. They’ll disappear when it’s too much. 1/4

If your partner does this, they are 100% a narcissist. There's no benefit of the doubt. There's no gray area. There's no soft version of this. If you see this, do not pause. Do not analyze, and don't let the love that you built together talk you out of what you're actually watching with your own eyes. Here's the thing:1/7

WAIT WAIT WAIT - SO APPARENTLY IF YOU HEAR WHAT SOMEONE SAID FIVE SECONDS AFTER THEY SAID IT, THAT'S ACTUALLY AN ADHD THING?? Yes. And it's not because you weren't listening.1/4

I DIDN’T FIX MY AVOIDANT PARTNER. And that’s exactly why our relationship got better. Because for so long, I thought that was my role. To understand him better. To be more patient. To not trigger him. And somehow… that would fix everything. But the more I tried to “do it right” the more I felt like I was disappearing in the relationship. And that’s when I knew something was off. The truth is: You can do everything “right” with an avoidant… and still feel anxious. 1/3

Someone younger asked how undiagnosed ADHD adults ever managed school without support. We didn’t just manage. We built a whole personality around holding it together, heard “bright but doesn’t apply himself” from almost every teacher, and only learned the word for what was happening to us in our thirties.

Things people don’t see when you’re a “high functioning” AuDHD adult: The 45 minutes of rehearsing a phone call. The exhaustion after being around people all day. The tabs open in your brain. The things you desperately want to do but can’t initiate. The shutdown nobody realises is happening. The fact that “you seem fine” can sometimes mean you’ve become really good at hiding how much effort fine takes

Hard pill to swallow: the Saturday you lost was not lost to laziness. You spent it standing at the start of 40 tasks, and standing at the start is more tiring than doing any one of them.

Why do ADHD adults lose things they were holding 30 seconds ago, and why does "just put it back" never work? I broke it into 4 parts. #2 is about your fridge.

3. "Just put it back where it belongs" assumes your brain keeps a map of where things live. It doesn't. There's no filing cabinet. Only what's in front of you right now. You can't return something to a place your brain never recorded.

4. So the fix was never discipline. It's making things visible and giving them one home. One bowl by the door. Clear containers. Not remembering where it is. Just knowing where it goes. You weren't careless. You were handed a brain with no map, then blamed for getting lost.
