September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
I’m leading the Candis King Hope for Sickle Cell Families Act, named in honor of a young Virginian we lost far too soon to this disease.
Our bill would restore a critical program that helped researchers and policymakers improve care and treatment for people living with sickle cell disease.
We must keep working toward better care, better treatments, and a cure.

This lack of oversight resulted in the horrific deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Maine at the hands of our government.
