2026 Will Be a Cakewalk AL Pennant for the Yankees.

New York City
Can we all agree the Toronto Blue Jays have one of the weakest lineups in the American League? 1. George Springer - Spring turns 37 this season. Let's not forget he hit posted a .220/.303/.371 line in 2024. He posted an even bigger fluke season in 2025 than Trent Grisham. 2. Addison Barger - Career OPS+ of 94, lousy Minor League player, why is he hitting 2nd? 3. Vlad Jr - most overrated player in the league? Hit just 23 HR last season, and finished with the 31st highest WAR. Ben Rice had better power numbers across the board. 4. Anthony Santander - Statistically the worst player in baseball in 2025, and arguably MLB's worst contract. 5. Alejandro Kirk - Slugging under .400 for his career. Has played over 130 games in a season just once. 6. Daulton Varsho - .226 xBA in 2025, .295 career OBP. 7. Kazuma Okamoto - hit just .277 in the Japan League that boasts only 6 teams, and practically had zero market in the US. Expect a freefall in MLB. 8. Ernie Clement - OPS+ of only 87 for his career. Offers nothing but slap hitting with zero speed. 9. Andres Gimenez - Had the lowest OPS of any player in the AL after signing a 7-year, $105M deal. That's a 75-win team, folks. Don't forget they won 74 in 2024 with the same roster.

Congrats on the beer muscles, Rays fans. I'm still confident the Yankees will win this series in 5 games the same way New York came back from 0-2 against the Indians in 2017 and the A's in 2001, who were two MUCH better teams than this outgunned Rays team. They're an even bigger fraud than last season's Blue Jays. In fact, I have this Rays team as the 18th-best Divisional Round opponent the Yankees have ever faced since the round was created in 1995. 1. 2018 Red Sox 2. 2001 A's 3. 2017 Indians 4. 2002 Angels 5. 2019 Twins 6. 1999 Rangers 7. 2003 Twins 8. 2007 Indians 9. 2000 A's 10. 2020 Rays 11. 2011 Tigers 12. 1995 Mariners 13. 2006 Tigers 14. 2010 Twins 15. 2022 Guardians 16. 2025 Blue Jays 17. 1996 Rangers 𝟭𝟴. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝘀 19. 2004 Twins 20. 2005 Angels 21. 1998 Rangers 22. 2012 Orioles 23. 1997 Indians 24. 2009 Twins 25. 2024 Royals The Yankees hit more home runs this season than Tampa, scored more runs, and had a better ERA — both in their starting rotation AND in the bullpen. The Rays have a pathetic .678 OPS vs. lefties (.751 vs. righties) for the season with lefties Max Fried and Carlos Rodon here to save the Yankees in the Bronx. I've never seen an opposing team's fanbase so cocky after scoring a measly THREE earned runs in 2 games. Yankees in a comfortable 5.

I get Mets fans still have insanely low self-esteem over the historically bad Pete Crow-Armstrong trade and Pete Alonso breakup, but it doesn't get any more artificial than this. The attempt to push an average player like Carson Benge as some sort of star is laughably cringe and straight-up delusional. Benge is Anthony Volpe of the outfield. Let's not forget Volpe also posted a 20/20 as a rookie and won the Gold Glove. Benge has below-league-average bat speed and exit velo as a guy with very little upper-body strength, and wouldn't have even made the big leagues this season if New York had signed Kyle Tucker like they so desperately wanted. Benge had 20 HR, 22 doubles, and 65 RBI in 654 plate appearances this year, and slugged just .430 -- an insanely low output for such a high volume of usage. You give Spencer Jones that many at bats-- a much bigger, faster, and stronger athlete than Benge, and he's going 40/40.
"I think Benge is going to be a better player than Ben Rice... can hurt you in multiple ways" On BNNY, @sal_licata, @AlbaneseLaura, and @KeithRaad discuss the Mets' young superstars in Carson Benge and Nolan McLean in comparison to the Yankees' Ben Rice and Cam Schlittler

Colson Montgomery shouldn't be in Major League Baseball, and quite frankly, I'm shocked he was ever even called up to the big leagues in the first place. Since the beginning of June, he's hitting just .190 with 130 strikeouts in 305 at-bats, and is 22 away from breaking the MLB record with 17 games to go. Dude was a .215/.319/.398 'hitter' in 146 games in AAA -- no small serving size. This is who he is: a historically bad hitter. He doesn't even hit the ball hard -- 40th percentile of exit velo, and offers next to nothing in OBP (career .296). At least former boom-or-bust infielder Mark Reynolds had some high walk seasons. Reminds me of former Yankees failure Chris Carter: led the league in HR in 2016 as a 29 year old, and he's completely out of baseball two years later. Montgomery won't be in this league long.
16 hitters have 30+ HR in 2026. Their average OPS is .871 Colson Montgomery has 30 HR, but is posting just a .729 OPS He is on pace to finish two strikeouts shy of the single-season record Should he still be considered a positive at the plate?

The Aaron Judge injury should lead to the immediate termination of Giancarlo Stanton's Yankees career at season's end. Stanton has clogged the DH position for almost a decade and likely took YEARS off Judge's prime. Stanton has been an incurable canker sore that never goes away, and one of the most toxic entities in franchise history. He's the antithesis of modern baseball — the guy who stands in the way of progress as he nukes your athleticism and forces an entire roster to cater to his degeneration. He's killed the careers of countless prospects, and kneecapped every possible free-agent remedy as well. Yordan Alvarez played just 24 games in the field in 2026, which should be the plan for Judge in 2027. Judge at DH, Ben Rice at 1st, Luis Garcia Jr. at 2nd, and Stanton finally flicked away like a mosquito.
Giancarlo Stanton is doing some agility work in between games

Stanton has pigeonholed the Yankees into becoming a 'wait for the 3-run home run' team for almost a decade now. Anything resembling innovative baseball is hijacked into a Beer League softball game because of the chokepoint his presence in the lineup creates. Dude used to be a good athlete, and now he's just an uncoordinated bodybuilder. And of course, he has a full no-trade clause too. We can't even ship him off to Siberia.

Why is this generational conman getting honored by the Mets? Carlos Beltran is remembered for his heater in the 2004 Playoffs with Houston, but he's more notoriously known for being the disgraced ringleader of the infamous Astros cheating scandal. I get the Mets don't have much of a history to hang their hat on, but this is setting a REALLY low bar for future jersey retirements, and is downright disrespectful to ACTUAL Mets icons like Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez, and David Wright. Was Beltran a deserving HOF'er? Ehhh, maybe, but he's one of those 'Tim Raines' entries where you wouldn't have argued or cared if they NEVER made it to Cooperstown. Beltran was obviously NOT a homegrown player for the Mets, and his Mets teams weren't even good, making just ONE playoff appearance in 7 years. Let's not forget he was FIRED by the Mets in 2020 when it was revealed he was the architect of the worst cheating scandal in sports history. He only had two Top 10 MVP seasons, and just one Top 5 finish (4th in 2006). You can argue that his most memorable moment in New York was the Mets blowing a 7-game division lead with just 17 games to play against the Phillies in 2007 — one of the worst collapses in baseball history.
"I will always be proud to say I was, and I will always be, a New York Met." Carlos Beltrán was inducted into the @Mets Hall of Fame and had his No. 15 retired by the team 💙🧡

Can we stop this nonsense of calling Juan Soto a 'gEnErATiOnAL tALeNt'? Is he a perennial All-Star? Yes Is he a future Hall of Famer? Yes Is he a 'generational' talent? Of course not. No more 'generational' than Bobby Abreu was during his prime. I've never heard so much hyperbole for a guy who has never won an MVP (and never will), and someone who has finished a season ranked in the top 5 in WAR just ONCE (third in 2021). Does he have good plate discipline? Yes. So did Joey Votto who actually won an MVP, and he's never called 'generational'. No GM in baseball would take Soto over Pete Crow-Armstrong, Ohtani, Bobby Witt Jr., Elly De La Cruz, Junior Caminero, Corbin Carroll, Aaron Judge, or Yordan Alvarez. We get it, he won a World Series as a rookie and had a 'cool' at bat vs. Prime Gerrit Cole. That was almost a DECADE ago. Besides having one of the worst contract in sports history, there's nothing remotely 'generational' about Soto.
Juan Soto only 4 home runs away from 30 while missing 65 games This is a generational 1st ballot Hall of famer that the Mets have in his prime

NEVER put The Greek God of Walks Dylan Cease anywhere near Cam Schlittler EVER again when it comes to starting pitcher rankings. Cease has been Scott Kazmir his entire career: a one-dimensional strikeout guy who gives you zero length and chronic inconsistency. 4 of his 8 MLB seasons he's finished with a 4+ ERA, and he's averaged an alarming 79 walks per-162, ranking second in the AL in base on balls this season -- just one behind Joey Cantillo for the worst. At just 25 years old, Cam Schlittler is about to pass Cease's career high in innings (189.1), and will be securely ahead of any SP the AL has to offer for the next decade. Happy Trails, BJs. Your Linsanity run is predictably over.
Dylan Cease tonight: 2.2 IP | 3 H | 4 R (1 ER) | 6 BB | 3 K It's his shortest outing of the season.

I hate to bash a guy who has been a stud at the plate, and could potentially be a 40/40 guy at some point in his career, but Spencer Jones is legitimately the worst defensive player I've ever seen play baseball. Like Jose Canseco-ball bouncing off his head for a home run-type BAD. I fear Jones could sadly be a modern-day Dante Bichette. Would Colorado do a Spencer Jones for Chase Dollander swap?
Spencer Jones can't field the ball cleanly, as Clemens reaches 2B safely

Yordan Alvarez is a very deserving Silver Slugger winner at designated hitter, but he's simply JD Martinez-light and doesn't deserve a single first-place vote for AL MVP. Yordan was hitting .330 on August on 3rd... His average has plummeted to .310 in a little over a month. The hype around him is OVER. Cam Schlliter has a WAR of 7.1 and leads the MLB in ERA+(higher than Misiorowski). Yordan Alvarez has a 5.8 WAR, and has only played the field 23 times this year. Let's not forget he plays in the biggest bandbox joke of a stadium in the Majors. What else is there to argue? Alvarez is the Cuban version of JD Martinez: a great hitter who should NEVER be up for major awards. Martinez had a much better year than Alvarez in 2018 and finished FOURTH in AL MVP voting.

If Cam Schlittler finishes the season with a sub-2.00 ERA (currently 1.95), he should unanimously win the American League MVP award. It would be the greatest pitching season we've seen since Pedro Martinez in 2000. Yordan Alvarez's MVP campaign predictably collapsed, hitting just .212 in September, with only 3 HR since August 14. NEVER again put Alvarez's name alongside Aaron Judge's when discussing the game's best hitters, as Alvarez is clearly nowhere near Judge's caliber offensively.

Not to mention, Schlittler accomplished this in a stadium all of you haters mock for being a 'bandbox', and he didn't get the advantage of facing the other team's opposing pitcher like NL pitchers exploited for 100 years before the DH.

Does Juan Soto re-sign with the Yankees if he knew Cam Schlittler and Ben Rice were arriving right down the pipe? Soto was reportedly weighing the strength of farm systems when it came to which organization he would sign with. I find it hard to believe Soto turns down the Yankees if he'd known Schlittler was the best pitcher in the AL, and Rice was a perennial 40-50 HR threat. All Soto gets with the Mets is a no. 3 starter in Nolan McLean, and two defensive specialists in AJ Ewing and Carson Benge, with no higher of a ceiling than Eric Brynes and Kevin Pillar. That bitter truth must be eating Soto alive, and you gotta think a 2029 opt-out is a foregone conclusion at this point.
An article from Bleacher Report had the Yankees with the 29th ranked farm system . The Mets came in at 15th. Weighing the future is a big part of the decision to sign with a franchise for 15 years. Juan Soto decided that future was brighter with the Mets. While one move can replenish the farm the Yankees aren’t moving anyone with that return attached.

Following in a long and ever-growing list of New York Mets busts, AJ Ewing is putting up a compelling case for 'Worst Hitter in MLB'. Ewing is 18 for his last 113 (.159), and stunningly finished the month of August with zero RBI's in 117 plate appearances. Let's see if Ewing challenges Juan Pierre's MLB record of 185 consecutive at-bats without knocking in a run. Much like with Carson Benge as well, low exit velo/low bat speed guys rarely last long in this league as everyday players.

Adley Rutschman has to go down as one of the biggest busts in MLB history. At one time a perennial MVP candidate and surefire Hall of Famer at catcher, Rutschman's career is effectively over five years later. Boston trading 3 of their top 5 prospects for 1.5 years of this broken-down fraud is one of the worst trades this decade. Dude is literally just Austin Wells with a better haircut.
Adley Rutschman won’t be in the lineup today, and Chad Tracy acknowledged on @WEEI that his hyperextended elbow will probably be an issue for the remainder of the season.

Would have been nice to have this $2.6 billion before you let the Dodgers get Tarik Skubal, Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Tucker, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, and Edwin Diaz all in their prime.
Yankees receive $2.6 billion in deal with private equity fund Apollo Sports Capital. The Steinbrenners will maintain full control.
