People still ask, "What can we do against Sony's plans?" Show them what they'll lose, if they don't cater to their audience. Tell them in the comments. Leave their services. Unsubscribe. Don't purchase. If you continue to indulge them, they will continue to trample over you.

Point to this when people tell you that you can’t make companies change course.

Looks like flooding chats and comments with criticism worked in this case. Almost like you customers have more power than some want you to believe you do. Now where else could we apply that same principle until ... let's say ... at least December 31 of 2027?

Did anyone seriously expect Sony to collapse because some people stopped playing for seven days? That’s not how this shit works. I’m not doing this because I think Sony is going to wake up tomorrow crying over my missing playtime. I’m doing it because I’m sick of the direction PlayStation is going and I’m choosing to stop giving them my money and my engagement. If you think one week of data somehow proves the concerns behind the Blackout are meaningless, you completely missed the fucking point.
Recent 'PlayStation Blackout' initiative yielded "no significant change at all in player count or engagement in our tracking", at least in the US, according to Circana director Mat Piscatella Source: bsky.app/profile/did:plc:bhq…

PlayStation thought the game was called physical and had to back out
As confirmed earlier through our official channels, in mid-June of this year, we unexpectedly received notice from PlayStation Studios that they would cancel the PHYSINT project. PHYSINT is an important project both to me personally and to KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. Determined to keep the project alive, we have spent the last three months searching tirelessly for a new partner. In the course of seeking advice and pursuing negotiations with people across many fields, we found in XBOX a partner with whom we share a common vision for the future, and we have decided to team up with them once again. Please rest assured that development of PHYSINT, our genre-defining action-espionage title, is ongoing and will continue moving forward.

Friendly reminder to keep voicing your opinion, if you oppose Sony's plans to kill physical games and force everyone into all-digital, where you don't have proper customer protection laws. Keep commenting. Keep voting with your wallet. Don't let them take advantage of you!

#PSBlackout Stage 1 completed! We would like to thank everyone who helped spread the idea and took part. Now the fight for a better gaming world continues. And we need to stand united! PlayStation's plans set a dangerous precedent. If they go all-digital, others will follow. This will affect us all, regardless of whether you earn a living with games or just play them. Regardless of where you play or how you purchase your games. You will lose the only form of ownership on console. The only legal form of preservation. Trade conventions/fairs will eventually die. Retailers will lose sales and close. Developers lose additional revenue and discoverability. Without physical and second hand price competition dwindles. Price hikes and fewer sales will be the new norm, pricing some people out of the hobby entirely. And what you will pay exorbitant sums for, is not even yours to keep. Without customer protection laws everything you buy can be stripped from you at a whim. As you can witness today when over 500 Studio Canal movies get erased from people's libraries without any repercussions. What do you think happens to Wolverine when Sony and Marvel eventually part ways? That is why we need to fight two battles at once! We need to protect physical games as an option. For preservation, for the experience, for a healthy market, and to keep our hands on what we bought. We need to push for better customer rights in the digital space. Actual ownership & end-of-life plans, so games don't just disappear, when a publisher ends support. Support us! Support initiatives like Stop Killing Games! Speak to your local customer protection agencies and local politicians tasked with taking care of these topics! Continue to make your voices heard online. The minimum requirement for the blackout has been reached. But many continue to do it. Others did their part and return to play for now. Regardless of which you are, there will be more chances in the future to take action again. Thank you all once more for standing up together. Let's continue to raise awareness and get more people on board!

Parts of the world are in day 4 of the #PSBlackout now! We are really happy how far this has spread. Mainstream media still has an eye on it, and players are discussing it across all platforms. Even in places nobody officially announced it at. No playing, no buying! Keep it up!

#PSBlackout DAY 3! Purchasing habits never mattered for Sony, only your money did. That's where to hit them. Don't buy. Don't subscribe. Don't even share your payment info. Show Sony what abandoning loyal fans means. Stay clear until they change!

"This Is Real Culture and It Is Being Deleted," says @MariaOhisalo With the Game Industry now much larger than Movies, we cannot allow corporations to arbitrarily destroy what we have paid for. Lawmakers must step up to ensure preservation. #stopkillinggames

As our favorite Pirate Markéta Gregorová said, taking away your consumer rights is a business decision, NOT a technical necessity. Never let companies like @sony gaslight you.

ONE WEEK WARNING for the #PSBlackout! August 23-30. No logins, no playing, no purchasing on PlayStation. This 1 week is the minimum requirement. If you can, start early, go longer. Let Sony know how important physical media is. Don't accept all-digital without customer rights!

Just in case anybody was still wondering why we were so against people just taking Circana (a US analytics firm) numbers for gospel. The global picture can look a lot different, as these sales percentages currently floating around for RE Requiem show.

Exhibit A. It's already starting. They want you to get used to higher prices and less sales. You can ridicule the death of physical media all you want, you will pay the price all the same. They even say it to your face. Think about where you stand. gamingbolt.com/grand-theft-a…

6 weeks after Sony announced they want to force everyone into a future without customer rights. The corpo apologists said the backlash will blow over quickly, yet these are the trending news topics on Twitter today. Almost like people are rightfully upset with the industry.

OF COURSE it makes sense that GTA is behind the Netflix subscription paywall. These people are perfectly fine with taking away our rights and squeezing every last cent they can out of us. Are we seriously surprised that the same industry that went after @RealSchlep, gave us the whole Battlefront II loot-box shitshow, and keeps chipping away at our ability to actually own the stuff we pay for is also greedy as hell?! No. We’re not. What’s actually astonishing is that THEY seem surprised that we’re not happy about it. And that alone shows just how completely out of touch they are with their own customers.

“GTA transcends gaming” 🤡 Hell no. It’s not normal to put a commercial behind a paywall and then make another commercial advertising that commercial. That’s just next-level greed. Yes, GTA 6 is pretty much guaranteed to become one of the defining cultural phenomena of its generation, potentially getting close to Star Wars or LOTR in terms of sheer cultural and commercial impact. But that doesn’t somehow give Rockstar a free pass on everything they do.
I am beginning to see that some people just like complaining about literally everything. The fact that people are getting so bent out of shape over GTA 6's extended look being on Netflix for......get this.... 6 hours! 6 hours!! Is hilarious. Most people sleep for longer. GTA transcends gaming and Rockstar literally did the same thing with GTA 5 with Game Informer, where it was locked behind a magazine, were you people complaining then? Some people need to get out and touch grass........or touch grass for 6 hours and then come back and watch the extended look on YouTube. lol The outrage reaction is a total nothing burger.
