A teaching assistant entrusted with helping a vulnerable girl instead groomed and sexually abused her — exploiting a child who was living in care. Aasim Qureshi, 37, from Bradford, admitted three counts of sexual activity with a child at Bradford Crown Court. The girl was aged between 15 and 16 when the abuse happened at a care home in the Bradford district in 2021. Qureshi was sentenced to 16 months in prison. According to the supplied report, he will be eligible for release after eight months. But his victim described an enduring struggle with betrayal, self-blame and despair. In a statement read to the court, she said: “Qureshi was supposed to help me learn but he abused me. I was in care and he took advantage of me.” She told the court she had been left feeling responsible for what happened, while stressing that Qureshi was the adult and knew what he was doing. She also said his delays to the court proceedings had deepened her distress, leaving her struggling to move forward. A man who was supposed to support her learning instead abused his position of trust. Years after the offences, she was still telling the court how deeply his actions had affected her life.

Three men, which includes two brothers, have been jailed for a combined 34 years and 10 months after violently gang-raping a teenage girl in Slough. All three men denied the offences but were unanimously convicted by a jury at Reading Crown Court before being sentenced on September 21. 🔴 Teague Rose, 36, was sentenced to 12 years and 10 months for rape and attempted rape. 🔴 Raymond Sithole, 27, received 11 years for one count of rape. 🔴 Delwyn Rose, 28, was jailed for 11 years for three counts of rape. Thames Valley Police described the case as a "deeply distressing and complex investigation" and praised the teenage victim for showing extraordinary courage by giving evidence and reliving her ordeal.
