Nick Sirianni on Jonathan Greenard: "He's had a good week. He's had a good week. It's exciting to have him out there. We'll see where we are at the end of today. Like I said, today's a very important part of the process, but I feel like he's had a good week. It brings good energy. I've really enjoyed, I mean, I've hated that he hasn't been able to go in for him and for our team, but I've really enjoyed being around him on the sideline and what he's like on a game day. He’s got a lot of knowledge, and he's really good with his teammates, and that's been very noticeable to me, and I'm excited when it's the time to get him back out there. He's worked his butt off to be able to get back out there as soon as possible. I'm excited to have that leadership that I've seen him show when not playing. Excited about him, and he's had a good week, though."

(Did not want this to be misleading. Smith stretching is a good sign for his practice activity.)

Saquon Barkley was flexing his left hand after the injury. He said he mostly carries with his right hand, so he wasn't too concerned about his grip after the injury. Barkley: "Nerve things are scary. It's football. It's not the first stinger I ever got. Won't be the last, but some are worse than others. And most important thing, our trainers do a really good job of protecting. Sometimes the trainers gotta protect you from yourself, and I think they did that because the second I had any strength back, I was ready to go back out there, but I had to wait until my strength fully came back. "But my strength is back. We're calming the nerve now, and I'm blessed, I get to play Monday night against the Chicago Bears. I'm excited for that. “

Saquon Barkley on neck injuries: "That was really for the big thing with MRI, making sure I didn't really do anything crazy, anything worse. I've had a history of it before. It's the first bad one I had in a long time, but it's kind of like football. …I've been very super active focused on my lower body and my longevity in my career. Probably wasn't as great as I needed to be with my neck stability and strength in my neck. So just putting that within my routine and having that part of my process, and kind of the same way I attack everything from head to toe, do the same thing with my neck."

Saquon Barkley on if the injury will affect him: “I don't think so. No, that's why I'm rehabbing my ass off to get as strong as it needs to be. I feel like I'm in a really good spot. I know that they wouldn't let me go out there if I wasn't able to do it. … I'm gonna go out there and play fearless. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about, like, I've dealt with a lot of injuries in my career, the mental side of it a little bit, so I'm excited. Feel good. Feel like I'm having great practice. Feel like we put a great week of work in as a whole, and we got a great opportunity.”

Saquon Barkley: “Everyone knows what it is — a stinger — some are worse than others, and just keeping the nerves calmed down around it. Beautiful thing is it’s a Monday night game, so I have a little more time. But right now, the mindset is I'm good to go. Might have to put on a little cowboy collar for a little bit, but I'd rather that than something with my ankles and my feet and my legs.”

Eagles ST coordinator Michael Clay was asked by @ZBerm about it this week. Here’s his response:
Sources: NFL special teams coordinators are meeting in the next hour to clarify a kickoff rule that some teams are believed to have misunderstood — or found a loophole in — through the first two weeks of the season. The NFL allows a 12th player on the field to hold the ball on kickoffs, but teams including the Eagles last week and Falcons in Week 1 used that extra player to hold the ball without a tee, giving the kicker a different launch angle to create a more difficult “dirty” kick and potential field-position advantage. The clarification coming today: If a 12th player is used to hold the ball, the ball must still be placed on a tee. My understanding is that the clarification may not be fully enforced for this week’s games.
