Playing to Win vs Playing Not to Lose 🎮💡 1. Mindset - Playing to Win: You’re proactive and adaptive, confident in seizing opportunities as they come. You focus on progress, staying flexible and forward-thinking, and embracing risks that could lead to rewards. Playing Not to Lose: You’re reactive and non-adaptive, overly cautious, and consumed by the fear of making mistakes. Your decisions stem from avoiding failure rather than striving for success, leading to hesitation and missed chances. ❓ Are you holding yourself back because you’re afraid of failing? 2. Decision-Making - Playing to Win: Your choices are intentional and bold, focused on what drives the game forward. You’re strategic and committed to creating advantages, even if it involves calculated risks. Playing Not to Lose: You default to safe and reactionary decisions. Hesitation dominates your actions, leading to defensive plays that don’t push the game or capitalize on opportunities. ❓ Are you second-guessing decisions instead of trusting your instincts? 3. Energy & Confidence - Playing to Win: You use the time you have NOW to make proactive moves that set the foundation for success. Your confidence drives you to trust your skills and adapt under pressure, keeping you focused on actions that influence the outcome. Playing Not to Lose: Your energy is wasted on reacting to the situation or dwelling on “what ifs.” Fear causes you to hesitate, pulling your focus away from what you can control in the moment and leaving opportunities untapped. ❓ Are you holding back because you don’t fully trust your abilities? 3. Outcome - Playing to Win: Even if you lose, you’ve played with purpose, leaving it all on the field. You create opportunities, learn from the experience, and grow stronger. Playing Not to Lose: Even if you win, it feels hollow because you know you didn’t give it your all. And when you lose, it’s often because you avoided the risks needed to change the outcome. ❓ Did you leave it all on the field, or did fear make you play small? Key Takeaway: Playing to win means being bold, proactive, and adaptive, focusing on the actions that lead to success. Playing not to lose is reactive and driven by fear, leading to missed opportunities. To perform at your best, ask yourself: Are you holding yourself back? Embrace the mindset of playing to WIN—because greatness comes from action, not hesitation. 💪🎯

A Player's Secret Weapon: Visualization 🧠✨ Visualization isn’t just for dreamers—it’s a game-changing tool for players who want to level up their performance. Here’s why: 1. Prepares Your Mind for Success 🏆 Your brain doesn’t know the difference between a vividly imagined experience and a real one. Visualizing yourself succeeding—making the clutch play, landing the perfect shot—trains your mind to see those outcomes as achievable as they become familiar. 2. Builds Confidence Before It Counts 💪 Visualization strengthens your mental game. Seeing yourself perform well in your mind primes you to feel more prepared and confident when it’s time to execute. 3. Reinforces Muscle Memory 🎯 Practicing scenarios in your mind reinforces the pathways your body needs to perform under pressure. Repeatedly visualizing actions like precise aiming, quick decision-making, or team coordination helps you respond instinctively in the moment. 4. Keeps You Calm Under Pressure 🌊 By mentally rehearsing high-pressure moments, you teach your brain to handle them with ease. You’ve “been there” in your mind, so when it happens in real life, you can stay calm and focused. How to Visualize Effectively: - Close your eyes and imagine yourself performing specific skills or plays, as well as things you don't want to happen/ fear would happen - and see yourself overcoming those. - Focus on the sights, sounds, and emotions of success & overcome - identify what got you there. - Practice daily to make it a habit. Your imagination is such a powerful tool—use it to dominate your game! 🚀

I had such a great session with a Val player the other day. He wanted to know how to not lose confidence & play well under pressure, and how not to panic when he was having a slow start in-game. We learned some basics about the biomechanics of pressure & confidence. But as we talked we found out he’s actually pretty confident, but recently he has been putting a lot of pressure on himself to succeed. Timeframes make everything feel intense, now every tourney carries extra weight. Deadlines give us focused progress, but saying I have x amount of time to make it or I’m doomed is highly pressurizing, debilitating & unproductive. As we took a look at what he feels he CAN control - it was vague, so his focus was going to the things he can’t control, making his performance stagnate or drop. He put such high expectations on himself, so I asked - “When will it ever be enough?” “Ummm ........” Yeah, it will never be enough. Not when you hit the next rank, or Radiant, when you join a team or when you win worlds. The high performer in you will always push for more. As it should, because it helps us thrive in a competition. But once it overpowers us, it becomes a dreadful chase. “Fear Pushes You Until Passion Pulls You”. Time to let passion lead, let go of outcomes & focus on what you CAN do now. Make that be much more than enough. He was actually putting in the work. Deliberate practice, work-life balance, goals, the works. But none of it works if we put the weight of the world on our shoulders. Sometimes we think it’s about 1 thing but it’s really about something else. It wasn’t about confidence, it was trying to control the outcomes to feel certainty & safety. Sometimes we can’t see it for ourselves though, we need someone like a coach that can see from the outside & show us what it’s really about, in order to expedite our journey. That’s why even as a coach, I have a coach for myself. We simply cannot see every layer of ourselves past our own biases & expectations. Once he could re-focus on what he CAN control & let go of the rest - the weight is lifted and we can tap into flow-state again to allow high performance to take off.

I've said it many times before, but @KARINTZARFATY's unique coaching method, skillset & perspective on performance is a godsend for the esports scene. Obviously I'm biased because I know her soul and get to work with her everyday, but don't take my word for it. Check out her reviews from ACTUAL clients. I thought that I go deep, but you have no idea the transformation that working with her provides. On the topic, I know so many players that go through that darkness inside of themselves as they play or compete. I strongly believe that getting to know your true self with all the darkness & flaws, accepting it, and maintaining your authenticity despite what people think about it - is the direct path to resilience. Resilience is the direct path to winning, achievement and fulfillment. The hardest times shine the light on an otherwise dark path. Don't give up. Trust yourself. Dive in headfirst. Whatever answers you need are already there waiting for you.
Yesterday I had a session with a CS player who felt so frustrated. He was so overwhelmed that he couldn't think straight. The game became too much & he was not performing. His relationship was tied into it & his friends would bring him down for it.

Watching @TeamPWR play with that much confidence and belief against @G2esports was so sick to watch. From a performance standpoint that was different than just playing with an underdog mentality. They know they belong. Loving what the future will look like for competitive RL as this pushes the major region teams even more. #RLCS

Sad to not be going to RL Worlds this year after having a blast last year. But I plan on being there every year going forward. I’ve really settled in with the RL scene and can’t wait for next season, but still want to dive deeper. It’s such an exciting esport filled with unique & dynamic personalities and I’m totally here for it. I know there have been a lot of tweets on this already, but as someone who hasn’t been as invested for years in the scene like most, I’m going to try and stay objectively hopeful that the format nightmare this season was the proper wake-up call to the devs to get it right Sometimes in life you have to break down to breakthrough and this year was definitely a low low. On a positive note though, I can’t wait for worlds and wish the best to everyone competing. Especially my boys @OskiRL & @AtowRL I’ll be rooting for you 🤠🔥

For all my high performers out there, remember that action inspired by intention is the key How - comes from the mind Why - comes from the heart Lead from the heart. The mind will catch up Don’t worry so much about HOW to achieve your goals, that will come the more you understand and connect with your WHY. Now go out there and do your thing. Have a great day 💪😎

36 today🥳 Crazy to think about as I can remember 26 like it was yesterday. Even though publicly I’ve always kept things close to my chest, those who know me know I’m an extremely open book. So this year I wanted to be a bit different and acknowledge my journey and the person it has made me into today. Apologies in advance, I just simply can’t be short about things I’m passionate about😂 It’s been a wild ride with loads of challenges the past few years but I’m proud of how I’ve handled them. I haven’t done everything right, but the lessons have shaped my perspective and made me a better coach. I’ve learned & grown more as a person in this time than all the rest and feel younger, more vibrant & unleashed than ever. To those of you who I’ve had the privilege to know or interact with over the years, I appreciate you. Every moment has made its mark. Esports has been the focal point of my life for 2/3 of it and I’m putting more into it this year than I ever have before. I’ve taken some small steps away from esports throughout my career as a player & coach to reset physically & mentally, but life just kept finding the most unique ways to pull me back in and lock me into it even more than previously. This year will mark some big milestones for me personally as well as professionally and I’m beyond excited to hit the ground running. Let’s get it 💪🙏🔥
