We recently reviewed 10 NFT projects across the
$Zcash ecosystem — both large and small.
What we found was surprising.
Again and again, the NFT layer still depended on databases, centralized registries, or infrastructure where the asset itself wasn’t truly living on Zcash Mainnet. In some cases, real Mainnet ZEC can even be used to purchase assets that currently exist on testnet.
They may look like on-chain products from the outside, but the hardest technical problem is still being avoided:
Can the NFT itself exist, move, and remain verifiable on Zcash Mainnet without a database deciding ownership?
ZECDUG chose to solve that problem.
Our Miner NFTs are issued and transferred on Zcash Mainnet. Ownership is determined by the chain — not by changing a row in our database.
And we’re taking this much further. We’ve been building something that pushes this idea of real on-chain utility even further on Zcash.
@Zcash — are you curious how we’re going to solve the next part entirely on-chain?
The application follows the chain.
The chain does not follow our database.
