College is a scam
The ROI was eaten by YouTube and Twitter over a decade ago.
Even then, you could learn skills and get connected to important business people without having to go 5 figures in debt for the scam that's college 'education', which is nowadays more focused on partying than actual education.
There is a myth that dropout and people who fade it don't do well in life, with extreme exceptions. Hopefully this proves them wrong.
one year after dropping out of college, i went back to my university and debated 10 of my biggest haters.
here are the 5 arguments they used against me, and what i said back.
"college is worth the money."
Michigan State, the college I went to, costs $40,000 a year. one of the girls said she learned how to "properly make a google slide" and i told her i learned how to do that shit when i was 8 years old. college doesn't really give you the skills that make it worth the money.
"a degree is your insurance."
you don't actually have job security with a degree. an employer can lay you off at any given moment. teachers in my local school district are being asked to resign right now. my mother was laid off in her old job because the company downsized. a degree does not give you ultimate security.
"you learn from your mistakes in college."
college is a simulation of real life. it's not real. mistakes don't really matter. my peers and i would do poorly on an assignment, get a bad grade, and everyone would still go to the bars, frats, etc. a D on a piece of paper teaches you literally nothing. learning the hard way is sometimes the only way to learn, which the real world gives you.
"students work harder than dropouts."
i asked the room what everyone was doing tonight. everyone was going out to the bar lol. you will work way harder when you actually have something to lose.
"going viral is luck."
luck is not real. i walked them through the exact funnel that turns one video into paying customers, step by step. volume mitigates luck. anyone who says successful people just got lucky are coping.
