The OG Threewave website is back! I've been meaning to build a website celebrating my work over the decades and bringing back to the original. Check it out and see what I've been up to lately. threewave.com/threewave

People are so young. My first programs were written in TI Basic on the TI-99/4A. My first text editor for code was Turbo Pascal 1.0 for DOS.
Be honest: what was your first code editor?

Wait, what. I loved Eternal Darkness. I met Denis Dyack at E3 and kind of fan boyed a bit over him because I loved the game. Still one of the coolest magic systems I've ever used. Definitely would be interested in this!

Ana is awesome. She was an amazing breath of fresh air when she joined the classic team. I miss working with her since I retired! Glad she's still doing amazing things at Blizzard.
She was so happy to talk about servers it was super wholesome

I cancelled my pledge. Over 100ms of latency is not acceptable for a product like this. It's a cool idea but the execution needs to match.
The #Unico #ULW10 LCD monitor is a neat idea, but it's current performance is AWFUL. Yet they've taken a QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS of your money for the #Kickstarter. I strongly recommend cancelling your pledge until there's proof it's fixed. Full story: retrorgb.com/unico-traveller…

Yesterday I was just wondering what Nathan was up to since The Rehersal last year suddently a trailer from his new film appears. He makes such wonderfully awkward shows and films.
YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, a documentary by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. Featuring Elizabeth Holmes. Only in theaters this October.

I see all these people remaking games why not something new? Ideas instead of Paperboy, but similar vein: Girl guide selling cookies Door to door vacuum salesman Census taker Delivery driver I would love to play the Girl Guide game and use cuteness factor to close cookie sales.
OK GPT-6 Astra is insane at making games. I remade Paperboy - everything modelled in Blender, rendered in browser. took ages to dial in the look and feel, models and rendering but my god its awesome. who wants a full walkthrough/breakdown?

One of my favorite things on X recently is all the posts from Japan of people playing Elden Ring for the first time on Switch 2. It's just wonderful seeing them all die to Margit. "This boss is crazy hard!" Welcome to a From Software game.

I use AI to write a lot of simple scripts for renaming/copying files, etc. It's faster than doing it myself! But I find it hilarious it gets messed up with file quoting, spaces in file names, special characters and other stuff just as much as I did when writing my own scripts!

Wait both Sandy Petersen and Graeme Divine got roped into pumping shitty crypto coins with licensed names (Doom/Quake)? What the fuck. Aren't those copyrighted? They don't hold the rights. If you ever me tweet trying to pump a shitty whatever crypto coin never engage with it!

I was there! We had whiteboard in our team office with guesses for opening day player counts. We were so far off and we got so much more than anyone expected. WoW Classic is one of my favorite moments of shipping of my career. Maybe only second only to Metroid Prime.

I grew up watching Transformers and Optimus Prime was a huge role model. Peter's wonderful voice protrayed what it meant to be a leader and a hero. Optimus was such a hero to me I even bought the Royal Canadian Mint's coin featuring him. Till all are one, Prime.

I made a Galaga clone using Claude. The art is all convex polygons and no images are used (or generated) for the game. It uses CC licensed music and sound effects. The game is available at: github.com/ZoidCTF/claudaga

It took about 20 hours total to build and tune the game to a fully playable state. I added attract modes and two player support as well. This is far faster than it would have taken me, I would estimate a week at least for me to write it all manually.

I think using AI for code is here to stay. It takes much of the grunt work out of writing the basics. However, it has no concept of proper game design. It still needs a human to explicitly direct it to get something playable and fun. I wonder if that will change in the future.

I hope you mean a decent visual debugger and not the command line gbd. Stepping through code in Visual Studio's debugger is so much better when you can just go line by line in the same editor your wrote it. I can't wait for RADDBG so I can do that on Linux too.
This is why I spend more time inside GDB than I do writing code, and so should you. Lex Fridman || John Carmack
