Religious institutions are increasingly embracing Zimbabwe’s Culture and Heritage Tourism Cluster, creating opportunities to harness indigenous cuisine, cultural knowledge and traditional practices as drivers of Religious Tourism and Gastronomy Tourism. This was reflected at the inaugural Muslim Cookout Competition held at Thompson Masjid Mosque in Mahusekwa, Mashonaland East Province, officiated by the First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, who is the Patron of Tourism and the country’s Culture and Heritage Ambassador. The event brought together the Muslim community through a showcase of traditional delicacies, cultural teachings, a Nhanga session and a fashion exhibition celebrating Zimbabwean identity and cultural diversity. The initiative resonates with the National Gastronomy Tourism Strategy 2026–2030, which provides a framework for positioning Zimbabwe’s diverse culinary heritage as a distinctive tourism product while creating economic opportunities for communities. The growing participation of faith-based communities in gastronomy initiatives demonstrates how religious platforms can contribute to the implementation of the Strategy by preserving indigenous food knowledge, nurturing culinary enterprises, strengthening social inclusion and expanding community participation in the tourism value chain. #ExperienceZimbabwe #NhakaYedu #IlifaLethu #OurHeritage #ThisIsUs #ZimBho👍

Improved Air Connectivity remains a critical driver of Tourism Growth, International Market Access and Destination Competitiveness. Zimbabwe participated at Routes World 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany, using the global route-development platform to engage Airlines, Aviation and Tourism Stakeholders on opportunities to strengthen Air links and expand access to its diverse Tourism Attractions. The participation highlighted the strategic relationship between Airline network development and Destination Marketing, recognising that improved flight access can influence Tourist choice, stimulate demand and position Zimbabwe more competitively in the Global Tourism Market. Beyond Destination Promotion, the engagements provided an opportunity to explore how stronger Airline Partnerships and viable new routes could translate into increased Tourist Arrivals, higher Tourist Spending and greater Investment across the Tourism and Hospitality value chain. With global Air traffic projected to grow by 2.1% in 2026, Zimbabwe’s participation underscored the importance of aligning Tourism Demand with Aviation Planning to unlock new Source Markets, improve Airport Utilisation, create Employment and advance Sustainable Tourism-led Economic Growth. #ExperienceZimbabwe #NhakaYedu #IlifaLethu #OurHeritage #ThisIsUs #ZimBho👍

One COMESA, One Africa, One People, One Culture, One Family! The COMESA Tourism and Cultural Night at Heritage Village in Harare showcased the power of Tourism and Cultural Diplomacy in advancing Regional Integration. Convened within the programme of the 25th COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit, running from 19–22 October 2026 under the theme “One Market, One Future: Advancing Inclusive Industrialisation, Investment and Regional Integration in COMESA,” the event saw Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi call on Member States to leverage their shared natural wonders, wildlife and cultural heritage to promote cross-border travel and jointly market Africa. Emphasising the spirit of “Zimbabwe is a Friend to All and an Enemy to None,” the Minister rallied African nations around One Africa, One Love, highlighting the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), linking Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Angola, as a model for regional cooperation and Tourism as a natural export capable of generating economic opportunities. COMESA Secretary-General Her Excellency Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe called for stronger Tourism linkages between destinations, businesses and markets, while Guest of Honour, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Hon Prof Dr Amon Murwira, highlighted Cultural connections as foundations for Tourism, Trade and Investment. Delegates celebrated Zimbabwe’s culinary heritage and the continent’s cultural diversity, reinforcing the complementary role of MICE and Gastronomy Tourism in enriching destination experiences. Zimbabwe recorded approximately 1.78 million Tourist arrivals and US$1.3 billion in Tourism receipts in 2025, representing 10% growth in both indicators, while Domestic Tourism trips rose 27% to 6.4 million in the first half of 2026. These gains underscore Tourism’s capacity to drive economic growth and employment, strengthening the case for joint destination marketing, investment and easier cross-border movement to position Zimbabwe: A World of Wonders within a more connected African Tourism economy. #ExperienceZimbabwe #NhakaYedu #IlifaLethu #OurHeritage #ThisIsUs #ZimBho👍
