I just saw an unannounced number, but once the semifinals are over and official viewership numbers come out, the drop from when Caitlin Clark and the Fever were in the playoffs will be telling.
One player shouldn’t have that much power over an entire league. The WNBA needs more true megastars. Women’s college basketball should rethink the four-year path and allow players to go one-and-done. There’s no reason JuJu Watkins should still be in college, she could’ve gone straight from high school to the pros and been box office. Same with when Cam Brink was at Stanford. College can build stars, but it can also water down their momentum.
