Trying the Fortell hearing aid was hands down the best product experience I have had in my life. Period. This company will do an immeasurable amount of good for the world. Please watch.
Exclusive: Inside Fortell (@fortellresearch) The $740M startup that had to waitlist billionaires and celebrities for its AI hearing aid. Their custom chip helps you "hear where you look", distinguishing voices in noisy environments - which solved a problem no hearing aid had cracked in 70 years. Now they're expanding across America to start reaching the 1.5 billion people globally who need it. Founded by four wildly impressive co-founders. Plus, backed from top VC's led by @JoshuaKushner @AntonioGracias @traestephens @wolfejosh @GavinSBaker @patrick_oshag @RobertIger @jaltma @aplusk @hbarra + more. We flew to New York, toured their factory, and tried it ourselves. To date, this is our proudest episode, truly technology at it's best. Result = consumer surplus galore Dozens of companies spending collectively tens of billions to compete against eachother and create the best app All for consumers to get the fruits of the labour for free
My “armchair” thoughts on the personal agent race: 1. Muse is poised to become the leader. The app is intuitive, and Meta is aggressively promoting it across all its properties. Once you use the Muse app, you realize that it makes little sense for an agent to live in an existing messaging app like iMessage. Unless Meta runs out of compute or something, I think this will become the company’s most successful homegrown app after Facebook. It will be much bigger than Threads. 2. ChatGPT is probably still the personal agent leader because it already has 1B+ users. OpenAI’s models, computer use, and voice are arguably better than Muse feature by feature. But it’s hard to build one product for both work and personal use, and harder still to serve enterprises and consumers with the same UX. Even for work, I started using Grok Bot because the Work/Codex split remains too confusing. I’m sure the team is cooking, and we’ll see something good in the next few weeks. 3. Grok Bot isn’t really a Muse competitor because it’s focused on work. Multiple bots naturally fit team-based knowledge work IMO. My bull case for Grok Bot is that it's a few features away from becoming multiplayer agentic Slack for both bots and humans. 4. Google is obviously the dark horse candidate. All these personal agents live off Gmail, Google Calendar, and your Google app's data. Google has their own personal agent in Spark but the last I checked it's a secondary tab in Gemini. I think Google needs to be far more aggressive in making Spark the primary experience and making it intuitive and competitive with Muse. Google however doesn't have a great track record in multiplayer AI... 5. Speaking of multiplayer, nobody has figured this out yet. I can’t easily add my spouse to a Muse chat to plan a vacation. I also can’t loop coworkers into ChatGPT or Grok Bot threads. Multiplayer AI today mostly means tagging bots in Slack. Every major provider is probably working on this, and I think it will be the next big unlock. My personal AI stack right now is Muse for personal, Grok Bot for cloud tasks, Claude for specific use cases, and ChatGPT for everything else. But I think we’re going to see some major updates this week. Everyone should design their personal skills and files so they’re easy to port between harnesses and agents. Otherwise, you’ll spend half your time moving from one tool to another.

Instinct is better than most recruiters I’ve used If you’re hiring, definitely give it a shot. Like all things AI, give it iterative feedback for better results over time

Whole team downloaded Instinct and started using it today, some thoughts: - So many 'wow moments' during onboarding - Language is so nice, why haven't other AI's figured this out? - Damn this must use an unsustainable amount of compute to send you proactive suggestions and constantly parse through your context - Why would Meta not win this game? If they have FB, Insta, Whatsapp connectors etc - Also, given this is consumer facing, the winner needs to win on ads. Meta will always have the upper hand - How it reacts to your messages with emoji's is a lovely and personable touch - It honestly feels very powerful - While I'm finding it valuable, I'm still unsure if I'll be using it in 30 days time - The more proactive it is, the better, but again, idk how this is sustainable on compute - so smooth using it on imessage - proactive and personable AI can be leveraged in so many industries. But I imagine it would be most useful in niche verticals, due to more bounded use cases that use less compute - I imagine they could do ads in a really smooth / helpful way if they combine it with commentary - personalised analysis of why you specifically need this product etc - It does a good job at identifying the most important thing - I struggle to see how they will stay differentiated as more competitors pop up

Not sure why this made such a big deal to me, but instinct reacting to my message felt like such a nice touch Makes me think: are there other seemingly small features that make AI feel a lot more personable and nice to use?

Extremely important And what's great is that recognising an unconventional life doesn't require any complex tests. You just ask someone about their life and let your questions follow your curiosity. The deeper you go down the rabbit hole, the harder it is for someone to fake their story.
After 15 years of investing, we realised that truly exceptional founders have something impossible to fake; deeply unconventional lives. We analysed 15,000 founders using five binary signals to measure this: quirky hobbies, early-life signs of exceptionalism, extreme life pivots, unusual geographies, non-linear careers. These sum to give a 0-5 score per founder. Whether someone started coding at age 10, speaks five languages, climbed Everest or quit a safe job to live in Chile, the signal we wanted was deviation from the mean. Rather than focusing on IQ or EQ, we call this metric the Outlier Quotient, or “OQ”. When forecasting founder success, it turns out that OQ was the single most predictive variable in our entire classification model, trained on ~70 different factors. Our OQ score had zero correlation with having worked at a top-tier company or attending an elite university. The signals most VCs rely on are noise without signal. The best founders don’t signal like everyone else, don’t think like everyone else and certainly don’t build like everyone else.

I have a million use cases for enterprise agents (which I use) but can't think of one burning use case for a personal agent. Am I missing out on something? What are you using personal agents for?

Standing in front of a human spine rendered in 3D with the software guiding the surgery, @Sachin_Shah_ calls it the most incredible technology moment of his career, and @RandyDAmico_MD says once surgeons see it, it's never going away. "I'm standing here right now looking at a human spine in 3D, and the software is actually guiding me on how to perform surgery on the spine, which is probably the most incredible moment I've had in technology my whole career. My brother actually had a surgery on his spine about 10 years ago that was highly risky, and technology like this makes that feel a lot easier to do." "Once surgeons understand what you can accomplish by bringing in the computing power with the visibility, it's never gonna go away, and it'll become a standard without a doubt. We're getting more minimally invasive in what we do. It's absolutely the future. It's not going anywhere."

Five billion people worldwide are underserved by surgery, with no real access to it, and @_AdamMiller_ asks Dr. Osamah Choudhry of @medivis_ai what it would take to change that. "We felt that with the advances in augmented reality and AI, you could take the patient's medical imaging. Every single patient gets a CAT scan beforehand, and the map of that patient's anatomy is sitting in a hospital server."

Insane to reflect on how much misogyny this video generated at the time This company @tbhskincare is an Australian skincare brand that went from 0m rev to 6m rev in 3 years, then merged into a group thats now doing 30m of collective rev. The haters couldn't do this to save their lives! Building a fast-growing startup while having fun is actually...really cool The incel class really hates to see: - women having fun - women succeeding Sad!
