Been testing a new way to use AI for scouting. I built a workflow where, right after a team plays, I automatically get: • Final score + leading scorers • Shooting, paint, assist, turnover & rebounding numbers • Quick game summary • Key things that stood out • A PDF scout built from formats I’ve used in the past I tested it with Golden State. The biggest value isn’t AI doing the scout it’s giving you a head start. Before you even open the film, you already have context on what hurt them, where they scored, and what you need to investigate. AI should help you get to the right questions faster, not replace watching film.

The more you ask WHY and HOW in basketball, the better your answers become. Don’t stop at: “We’re giving up too many 3s.” Ask: Why are we giving up 3s? How are they creating them? Why is our rotation late? How are they forcing that rotation? Who are they putting in the action? Where is the breakdown starting? What happens before the shot even occurs? Same thing offensively. Don’t just say: “We aren’t getting to the rim enough.” Ask: Why aren’t we getting downhill? Are closeouts being attacked? Are we creating paint touches? Is spacing shrinking the floor? Are we settling early in the clock? Which actions are actually creating an advantage? That’s when film and data become useful. A stat tells you what happened. The next question should be: Why did it happen? Then: How can we fix it? That’s how you go from collecting numbers to actually finding something coaches can use. Question → Film → Data → Answer → Coaching Decision

For Mansfield Girls Basketball head coach Brooke Brittain, this year’s team isn’t built around one player or one role. She sees it as a machine where every piece has a different responsibility in making the entire program go. “I look at this team as like this big machine.” The Tigers have experienced players providing the consistency that keeps the culture moving in the right direction, while a younger group has brought a completely different element to the program. “We’ve also got this class of 2028 that has come in with, like, a fiery fuel that gives us our spark to make the whole machine run.” For Brittain, that combination is what makes this group work. Some players provide the stability, others provide the fuel and energy, but everyone has a responsibility that contributes to something bigger than themselves. “Everybody has a unique part that drives the team.” And what stands out most to Brittain is that her players aren’t only concerned with performing their individual roles. They’re invested in making sure every piece around them succeeds as well. “They care about the whole part of the machine running well.” That’s why Brittain believes the team drives the team — every piece working together, every role carrying value and everyone responsible for keeping the machine moving forward.

College football literally doesn’t have enough crossover games to determine strength of conference. When the SEC played bowl-eligible teams on neutral fields in the post season, they were 4-10 last year.
Oh no, the Big12/ACC glazers aren’t gunna like this one. Let’s be real guys, of course 12-0 Tech with the easiest schedule in FBS deserves to make the playoffs over a 9-3 team with a top 10 schedule. As we all know you are what your record says you are.

High school coaches: one of the easiest things you can track is: Good Possession / Bad Possession After each possession, ask: • Did we get the shot we wanted? • Did we take care of the ball? • Did we create an advantage? • Did we execute what we were trying to run? A missed layup can still be a good possession. A made contested 3 early in the clock can still be a bad possession. Simple formula: Good Possessions ÷ Total Possessions Example: 42 ÷ 60 = 70% Simple workflow: Watch the game live or on Hudl Mark each possession G or B Total the good possessions Divide by total possessions Go back and watch the bad possessions to see the common problem You can even break it down by quarter. Now you’re not just tracking whether shots went in. You’re tracking how often your team actually played the way you wanted.

Watching members of Congress fight for illegals over Americans is getting really old.
Texas Rep. Greg Casar compares immigration enforcement to "war" and says the only way "for Austin to be safe" is to stop enforcing immigration law altogether.
