Xi’s visit is making clear he has zero respect for Trump. Just look at his body language. His head tilted to one side, his bored facial expression, and his posture: all broadcast disrespect and contempt. Just like the photo yesterday on the red carpet on the tarmac. Xi, Putin, all of the leaders in Europe, and everyday people did I talk with daily around the world consider him a demented, supremely dimwitted clown.

As long as America is afflicted with such bitter anger, hatred, and division—all by design BTW—the potential for something even worse than Trump exists. It comes down to our elected officials… if they truly cared about our country, they would work to heal the division and a tone down the emotions. Instead, they exacerbate them for disgusting self-serving purposes. Our politicians are the problem. Trump is just a symptom.

If you were to have an honest conversation with Donald Trump, he would probably confide that he believes all of politics is just a ruthless, vicious, no-holds-barred struggle that has as its ultimate goal the acquisition of absolute and permanent power; that democracy is just window dressing, and any rules for the peaceful acquisition and transfer of power are just a facade. Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, Xi JinPing and the rest of history’s despots would certainly wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. This is why he probably has no intention of honoring the democratic process unless the results are favorable to him. This is also why he is working to 1) tilt elections in his favor through gerrymandering and voting restrictions, 2) sew distrust in democracy itself, 3) undermine faith in our journalism, and 4) stoke cynicism in the judiciary when judges don’t rubber stamp his actions, among other things. You can bet therefore his ultimate goal is to establish a one-party autocracy with him as its absolute and unassailable leader. This year’s elections will reveal how far he’s willing to go to achieve that goal.

Trump posts stupid nonsense solely to get an emotional reaction—either disgust or further infatuation. He’s a two-bit entertainer who not only thrives on stoking the public’s emotions, it’s the only thing his dimwitted brain knows how to do. It literally drives every aspect of his administration’s policy and public behavior. The idiotic trade war with Canada, the stupid shackling of our renewable energy industry, the mindless cruelty towards immigrants, etc are all meant to perversely delight his supporters, and torment the rest. Don’t fall into his trap: recognize his twisted shenanigans and don’t let them get under your skin.

It’ll be a great and historic day when Americans finally realize that the true enemies are not your fellow citizens, not immigrants, Muslims, people of color, liberals, conservatives, Jewish people, etc., but rather the coalition of our power-addicted career politicians and their powerful special interest allies. They purposely seek to divide us into mutually-hating tribes in their vicious pursuit of ever more power and wealth for themselves. Our reelection-obsessed politicians are the root of our problems.

Power is the most addictive thing of all. This is why our politicians’ first priority is staying in power and supporting the special interest that helped them achieve that. Opening the Strait of Hormuz is not a success—it was already open before the conflict. Worse, the wretched Islamic government is in actually a much stronger position now, and at least $300 billion richer to boot. This can only be called a massive failure.
