I was a little confused, a single plant will make both male and female flowers (hermaphrodite). Male flowers simply produce pollen and fall off, female flowers contain both pollen and an ovary and can therefore self pollinate to produce fruit.
So I just did some research, hopefully my dwarf pomegranate bonsai is either a female or a hermaphrodite (considered perfect) for the flower to turn into a fruit.
The males produce flowers and pollen, but lack a functional ovary and therefore simple drop the flowers.
