Remember all those polls where Gen Z favored socialism by sizable majorities? Well, being forced to pay for other people's benefits is the textbook definition of socialism. Infantilized Gen Z really means socialism for me (the young and beautiful) and the gulag for you (the old and useless).

This is why the generational bloviating and fingerpointing is bullshit. I've been saying that GenX, as they get older, will be targeted as the new Boomers. And eventually the same will be said about Millennials when they get older. They'll be mocked by GenZ, and on and on it will go. The thing that GenX has going for them is that they give zero absolute fuks about what people call them. It's all fake and ghey.
Millennials need to start referring to this as a bailout for boomers. Boomers and Gen X (who are also boomers) made a bad investment, now they want to get bailed out at the expense of their children and grandchildren.

This is pathetic. You are offering to give up a check you have never received, with 25 years left to prepare. A 70-year-old living on Social Security does not have another 25 working years to replace that income. Pretending those are the same sacrifice is nonsense. They paid a mandatory tax for 40-plus years and planned retirement around the benefit both parties promised. They already raised their children. Their willingness to keep the income they live on is not a test of whether they love their grandchildren.
I would agree to a plan to phase out social security over the next 25 years, even knowing that it means the system will end right at the moment when I would start drawing a check. If that means that my kids and grandchildren aren’t subjected to this scam for their entire lives, I’m willing to take that hit. I just can’t for the life of me understand or relate to the older people who don’t feel that way and wouldn’t be willing to make the sacrifice for the sake of their descendants. Totally foreign mentality to me. I truly find it baffling. Setting my kids up for the future is like one of the only things I care about anymore.

Between myself and my employers there have been roughly $317,000 in Social Security trust contributions over my working life. This does not include an additional $80,000 in Medicare contributions. This also doesn't include inflation adjustments or any interest that ought to have been earned over the 40 years I (and my employers) contributed. I'm supposed to write that off because young people don't want to pay what we had to pay. I'm also told that the below isn't an indication that I should expect to receive benefits. I have been receiving such statements for 30 years. I have redacted my contributions page.

My final post on SS because it's beginning to be too contentious and it's not worth the angst: 1) Let everyone under 50 opt out of SS. 2) Create a temporary corporate tax on companies over 500 employees to fund the gap for those who paid into SS their whole working lives (compensation for helping to ruin retirement by dropping/raiding pensions). 3) Means-test the remaining SS recipients. Only those who would be indigent (homeless, underfed) without it receive benefits. 4) Get rid of state-funded old folks homes (and the cost). 5) End the Federal Reserve system, fractional reserve banking, and back the dollar with a basket of oil and rare earth reserves, bitcoin, and gold. 6) Make Congress approve any foreign military action longer than 30 days. 8) Radically curtail the surveillance state (and associated costs) by moving all intelligence functions under the military and gut the FBI, CIA, and NSA. 9) Make raising the debt limit a 2/3 majority of both Legislative houses, not just the House. 10) Reform bidding in military acquisition and force belt-tightening on the Pentagon (freeze spending at 80% of current levels for 5 years with the stipulation that this money must be earmarked for debt repayment). No more 20-year programs of multi-trillion dollar weapons systems that are obsolete the moment they roll off the assembly line. 11) Create an investment plan for younger people that guarantees a 7% annual return on their money that anyone over 18 can invest in independent of the company they work for, like an annuity (treasuries, but without the debt and inflation), and absent the management fees. 12) Create a legislative plan for sunsetting SS in 18 years. 13) Make it impossible to hire an illegal alien or for them to receive any public benefits, backed up by heavy fines on companies that flout the law. 14) Radically curtail foreign aid. 15) No more bailouts of banks and investment firms. They take on the entire risk. No more too big to fail. 16) Make derivatives illegal. 17) No interest rate higher than 10% to be allowed, with dollar-for-dollar collateral to 100% of the loan. 18) Pare back Medicare and Medicaid. No non-citizen receives benefits. 19) Remove all government funding/guarantees on tuition. 20) Make universities more difficult to matriculate into. That is, raise admission standards. 21) Mandatory government investment in trade schools for younger people. 22) Abolish the IRS and move to an individual flat tax of 10% and live within those means. 23) Abolish all sales tax and property tax on paid-off homes. 24) Abolish the double and triple taxing of money/profits as well as closing and junk fees on first-time homebuyers. 25) ???

If you're 80 pounds overweight, smell like corn chips, or a ripened cave cheese, and spend your nights scratching your balls in between frenzied bouts of modding Resident Evil skins, after toddling home from your min-wagie job at Cinnabon wiping corn syrup glaze onto glyphosate sponges, miss me with your complaints about the bitches and needing one assigned to fill your copulative requirements. You'll get your sexbot soon enough and actual women can skip you.

People ranting about boomers, and yet quiet on the government literally stealing homes from people for tiny tax liens. Mad about all the wrong things.
Tawanda Hall missed $900 on her property taxes. The county took her $308,000 home and SOLD IT. Then took the entire $286,000 in profit. She never expected this could happen over $900. But the government took everything she owed, then everything she had. “They took my whole house, my whole family’s livelihood.” John Stossel also points to another case where a county took an entire home over an $8 debt. Nobody should have to fight in court to stop the government from taking their home over eight dollars. You work, you pay taxes. You die, you pay taxes. You buy stuff, you pay taxes. You invest and make a profit, you pay taxes. You own a home, you pay taxes. You stop paying taxes, they take your home and SELL IT! Is this a government or a damn collection agency?! At some point you gotta call it what it is: legalized theft.

Breaking the cycle of inter-generational economic f*ckery is going to take some radical reform and I just don't see it happening until the whole thing implodes because nobody wants to pay the piper for the past.

News Flash: Boomers have been paying into SS for their entire lives. The government stole their money and wants to blame it on the victims. Then it wants Gen Z to turn on them.
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 US boomers overwhelmingly support higher taxes on younger workers to maintain current Social Security benefits, poll shows.

We are seeing $500,000 houses on the outskirts of town with 2,100 square feet, zero lot lines, very small backyard... And first-time home buyers are gobbling them up instead of existing homes because the builder is buying down the interest rate to 3.99% and giving them golf carts. This won't end well.

Gen X is currently stuck in the brutal vice grip of the "Sandwich Generation," and it’s completely reshaping their priorities. You’re 49. Your kids are 17 and about to leave the nest forever. At the exact same time, your parents are 79 and rapidly losing their memory, mobility, and independence. You sit in a sterile conference room on a Thursday listening to a 32-year-old consultant talk about "cross-functional synergy," and you realize you have maybe five good summers left with your parents and six months before your teenager moves out. The idea of trading another 50 hours a week to chase a "Senior Vice President" title stops sounding prestigious and starts sounding like an absolute tragedy. Gen X isn't burning out because they're tired of working. They’re opting out because they finally calculated the real cost of being absent.

There is ZERO legitimate argument for KYC. The customer gets severe level risk and no reward just to allow some cucked company to stay "compliant" Around 75% of fraud on these platforms is committed by accounts that have KYC'd but with fake documents or have hacked an account. KYC has no benefit to the customer and we must stop tolerating it.

This is the real solution to hacks: the free market, NOT ruining censorship resistance! 0: Fix and harden your code! 1: Have enough of a treasury to cover the losses from hacks 2: Trace the stolen funds (even with privacy assets you can figure things out with off-chain data) 3: Credibly threaten the hacker with prison 4: Offer to not prosecute AND leave them a small bug bounty if they give most of it back Notice what's NOT on the list: censor your protocol so future state actors can compel you to deny financial services to innocent people and you ruin the whole point of crypto.
NEAR Intents attacker has responded! the NEAR Intents Recovery Wallet (0xB18a1...C0e7) has received 1 BNB one hour ago (10:22 AM UTC) with a message in response to @AlexAuroraDev's 48-hour window: > "Willing to cooperate, reply with your Signal so contact is possible." the sender address (0x09Fd1...ad37) is tagged as "NEAR Intents Exploiter 1" on BNBScan and is one of the primary addresses identified by @zachxbt as belonging to the attacker -- used in the exploit Alex offer is a nonbrainer. the attacker had two options: A. refusing it and living in fear of getting caught B. accepting it, collecting the bounty, and living free there are just too many eyes on his onchain trails and liquidating the full amount would be extremely hard, with likely significant losses while doing so by accepting the 48-hour window offer they can now collect a 5-10% bounty, claim cooperation (greyhat activity), receive legal forgiveness, and maybe even brag about the critical finding one day it looks like @near_intents exploit will have a happy ending after all kudos to the team for that!
