Rishi Sunak insists he is English, and that anyone who says otherwise imposes "a test no non-white person can ever pass." But Rishi Sunak is an Indian man, born to Indian parents, who married an Indian heiress, wrote policy papers promoting Indian immigration because they vote Conservative more than other immigrants, imported millions of Indians while in government, and celebrated Diwali in Downing Street. Being Indian doesn't make him a bad person. Reckless quantitative easing and deficit spending during lockdown, and shepherding the Boriswave, make him a bad person. "We cannot allow race to be reintroduced into our politics", Sunak wrote. "We cannot allow Briton to be set against Briton." Perhaps he should have considered that before pressing Britons' demographic backs against a wall by importing millions of foreigners in a few years. A nation is not a sports team, a job centre, or a piggy bank for the third world. It is a home, and you can no more swap out members of that national family than you can your own family. You cannot change your ethnicity, just as you cannot change your sex. Having foreign heritage doesn't disqualify you from living in Britain, as long as you befriend the native population. But insisting, arrogantly, that you have as much a claim to their identity and country as they do isn't friendship.
