It's sad that this is where we are at, but this is why we need to put equity & protections in our contract, even when they are state law or common decency.
(Also, sometimes state law isn't enough to get CPS to handle their SPED responsibilities, but that's another story 🤦🤦🤦)

Great news! Congress just repealed the unfair WEP/GPO rules that reduced Social Security benefits for thousands of educators, nurses, first responders and other public employees in Illinois.
President Biden is set to sign it, ensuring educators who worked in the private sector get full credit for private-sector work and spousal benefits.

Imagine if a team of staff reps got together 6 months before the contract was up &drafted proposals. Some would need funding but others were free but impactful to their members.

In '19 we ✍️ a contract that would end June24. It took a year &11 days on strike to bargain that contract.
Did #ILGA not do the math in '21? When the bill passed, a smaller BOE dealing w/this contract was baked-in. Hybrid or not, the 21 members wouldn't all be seated until '25
