I was watching Nnamdi Egwuonwu talk about his journey into journalism and how he became a segment producer, and one thing really stuck with me.
He talked about how, while he was in school, they went on media tours. Not internships.
They visited different media organisations, met journalists, saw how newsrooms operated and learned how different stations approached production.
And it got me thinking: Why isn't this a more common part of Mass Communication/Journalism education in Nigerian universities?
An internship gives you experience working in one organisation. A media tour can expose you to multiple organisations, multiple workflows and multiple approaches to journalism.
I genuinely think this is something more Nigerian institutions could incorporate into the learning experience.
