I normally don't do opinion pieces, but I just wrote one about AI-powered “detectors” of AI-authored content and important issues with them that I think need to be urgently discussed, especially within independent media.
While these "detectors" have recently been promoted as a way to protect human writing online, that’s not what’s really happening.

Sorry, but it's not just Anthropic. Palantir has been working on predictive policing and surveillance of dissidents for the US government for well over a decade. The goal of the Bush admin immediately after 9/11 was pre-crime via "Total Information Awareness" and they have been building it ever since, through the privatization of that program as Palantir. And there are other companies working toward this end to, all with ties to US intelligence or top US officials (Satellogic, SpaceX, Axon/Carbyne, etc.)
Anthropic may be "building" their own private equivalent, but this is something the government and its other private contractors have already built. Under the first Trump admin, Bill Barr as AG created the legal framework for pre-crime. They are just waiting on the right excuse or justification to scale it.
We have to realize how far along this is if we really want to stop it. It is now many companies ushering in a pre-crime paradigm, all with State backing.
Anthropic Is building a surveillance system to monitor activists using a “pre-crime” approach that tries to predict incidents before they happen.
The extensive monitoring system that the AI company is building is aimed primarily at keeping tabs on activists who oppose the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

I've warned about the pre-crime push to "stop mass shootings before they happen" for years, especially during the first Trump administration.
I don't think it's a coincidence that this happens just as the full extent of the Epstein-Thiel-Carbyne911 relationship is being revealed.
I wrote about Epstein, Thiel and Carbyne as well as Trump's previous pre-crime push after a spate of 2019 mass shootings (which then-AG William Barr, who launched a DOJ pre-crime program called DEEP, seemed to predict in an odd speech) together in the same article.

Why are people celebrating shitty bread crumbs from compromised politicians? It's not going to move anything forward. What does move things forward are economic boycotts, civil disobedience and disabusing yourself of the belief that the US' two-party farce offers any meaningful avenue for change.
Neither party, which both work for oligarchs, is interested in dismantling the oligarch network Epstein worked for nor in sending any of those oligarchs to prison. Those same criminal oligarchs largely finance their campaigns and their lifestyle.

In this episode, @markgoodw_in and I discuss our latest investigation into OpenAI’s Stargate Argentina data center and the man behind it Emiliano Kargieman. We look at how Kargieman is a part of a close-knit group of Argentines sponsored by the American group Endeavor, which has blurred the lines between Argentina’s tech sector and Silicon Valley. In addition, we discuss how Kargieman's company Satellogic (backed by Howard Lutnick) is working closely with Palantir and SpaceX to create a global satellite surveillance network that aims to soon “predict the future.”
We also get into the proposal for Stargate Argentina and how Emiliano Kargieman has suggested that OpenAI may not end up being the ultimate user of the center once built, due to an AI debt bubble. He further seems to suggest that the Argentine State will likely be one of its main users as it "digitally transforms" under Javier Milei into an AI-powered surveillance state.

Javier Milei’s administration has been showcasing Patagonia to Silicon Valley executives, culminating in OpenAI’s recent ‘Stargate Argentina’ announcement. The focus of this piece, Emiliano Kargieman, is the man actually developing OpenAI’s Argentine project and boasts significant ties to United States’ military and intelligence, NASA, Palantir and the Silicon Valley stalwarts who helped privatize space.
Here, we detail how Kargieman has said the quiet apart loud about how data center construction isn't about "making jobs", it's about making money, and how he has suggested that OpenAI is a front for the accelerated build-out of AI infrastructure (financed by an intentional debt bubble). He has also suggested that Stargate Argentina will eventually be used, not by OpenAI (which Kargieman anticipates will collapse when the AI bubble pops), but by the Argentine State.
In looking at Javier Milei's policies with respect to AI domestically in Argentina, the "digital transformation" of the Argentine State - which Stargate Argentina hopes to further advance - is largely for "predictive" behavioral control of its population. We also touch on some of the likely motivators of Peter Thiel's move to Argentina and where he fits into all of this.
