Possibly the most fun project I've ever worked on. It's still amazing to me how you can just prompt things into existence now.
We asked Adam to design a flat-six engine. It produced the complete assembly and instructions on how to assemble it.
Six pistons, connecting rods, a counterweighted crankshaft, split crankcase, and flywheel, all generated from a written description as an editable parametric CAD file. Every single part is modeled by Adam.
The whole engine goes together without tools. Adam sized the clearances for what an FDM printer can hold, using friction fits for some joints and printed fasteners for others.
What we find interesting is how Adam handles change. It understands where every part sits in space and how it mates with its neighbors, so when we adjusted the piston diameter partway through, it reworked the bores, the rods, and the crank throws to match without being asked.
We're now working with a small number of hardware teams who run their engineering process through Adam, from the first specification through geometry, drawings, BOMs, and assembly, to the parts arriving at the shop floor.
