Blockbuster Video launched on this day in 1985, October 19th, and many of us have happy memories of visiting their stores during the 80s. Choosing the video was a part of the fun back then.
Did you know: In the year 2000 Blockbuster turned down the chance to buy the fledgling Netflix for $50 million.
How different things could have been for Blockbuster Video.

Bye bye Atari, hello Nintendo.
The Nintendo Entertainment System launched in the US 41 years ago today, on the 18th of October 1985.
The Atari was soon to be thrown out and the arrival of the Nintendo after the 1983 video-game crash, helped revive the entire industry, and it reached roughly 90% of the U.S. market by the early 1990s.
Gaming was never the same again.

'The Color Of Money' premiered almost exactly 40 years ago, in October 1986.
Apart from Tom Cruise's bad haircut, it was a great movie.
PS, I think that is the worst haircut Tom Cruise has ever had in any movie.馃槅Do you agree?

In honor of the launch of the first flying car in 2026, as unveiled by Tesla recently, lets take a look at what predictions 1989s 'Back To The Future II' got right and which it got wrong. One of its predictions was flying cars by 2015.鈽癸笍

Do you remember when 1989's 'Back To The Future II" predicted flying cars by 2015.
Turns out they were only out by 11 years.

Back in the early 80s this was the console every kid wanted.
I had one, as did many of my friends.
Great times.

When I was a kid my parents let me walk to school alone from the age of 4, and I am not kidding.

In 1982 'E.T.' was the big movie hit, Michael Jackson released his iconic album 'Thriller' and 'Knight Rider' made its TV debut.
Great Times.

The thing about the 80s is this.
The worlds energy has completely shifted since the 1980s.
The 80s was a far happier time with a much better atmosphere & vibe.
Since the 80s the world has been going downhill, getting darker & most people I know feel this too.
Do you agree?

1985 was perhaps peak 80s.
'Back To The Future' was the big box office hit. Miami Vice was in full swing, and A-Ha's 'Take on me' was top of the charts. Plus the Nintendo Entertainment System launched in the United States.
If I could go back for a day (or two) I would.

In October 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark was the box office smash, the IBM PC jumped onto the scene, and Hill Street Blues rewrote the cop-drama rulebook.
The average US salary was just $15,650 per year.
