Had the opportunity to moderate a panel at the @UnchainedSummit 2026 on “Web3 Gaming & Consumer Adoption: Building Products Beyond the Crypto Niche.” It was a privilege to be joined by: Shan Han from @animocabrands Hilmar Veigar Pétursson from @FenrisCreations Trung Nguyen from @SkyMavisHQ @AxieInfinity A few insights that stood out from the conversation: 🎮 On sustainability in Web3 gaming, Shan shared that long-term success doesn’t come from tokenomics alone. The foundation has always been the same as traditional gaming: build something genuinely fun. Players may be attracted by incentives, but they stay because the game is enjoyable. Sustainable ecosystems are built around strong gameplay, engaging communities, and products people would use even without financial rewards. 🚀 On the journey of Axie Infinity, Trung offered a candid reflection on the highs and lows of building one of Web3’s most influential games. He spoke openly about lessons learned from rapid growth, the challenges that came with scaling during the bull market, and how the team has evolved its thinking since then. What was particularly interesting was hearing how Sky Mavis is now focused on building for longevity, creating stronger game experiences, and supporting a broader ecosystem beyond a single title. 💡 On fundraising and building as a game studio today, Hilmar shared a perspective that many founders needed to hear. Rather than optimizing solely for fundraising narratives, game builders should focus on creating products that players genuinely care about. Capital is important, but conviction, execution, and a clear vision remain the strongest signals to investors. He also highlighted how the fundraising environment has matured, requiring founders to demonstrate sustainable business models rather than relying on hype cycles.
