I've been a blockchain developer for 6 years, and one thing that feels very different today is how quickly ecosystems can grow around a technology. A few years ago, contributing to an ecosystem mostly meant being a developer. Today with AI, anyone motivated enough can create educational content, videos, motion design, research, documentation, dashboards, community tools and much more in a fraction of the time. I think Zcash is a great example of where this could go. AI won't just make the technology itself move faster. It will make communities faster at building, educating and contributing around it. And I think we're only starting to see what that means for emerging ecosystems.

Been digging into @JonWalch’s work on post-quantum transparent Zcash. What I find interesting is that replacing ECDSA isn’t as simple as picking a PQ signature and calling it a day. You immediately run into transaction size, verification time, storage, bandwidth and node requirements. The SQIsign benchmarks are particularly interesting. Worth a read.

People underestimate how important this is. Zcash now has Zebra + Zakura independently enforcing the same consensus rules. You don’t want the entire network running one implementation where a single consensus bug could affect everyone. More independent clients = more independent verification. That’s decentralization too. 🛡️
Zcash now has two independent full-node implementations enforcing the same rules: Zebra: github.com/ZcashFoundation/z… Zakura: github.com/zakura-core/zakur… Does a second client actually change how decentralized the network is, or is hashpower still the only thing that matters? $ZEC

That’s one of the main reasons I started moving away from the EVM ecosystem and building on Zcash. Most of these L1/L2s feel like VC cash grabs, with no deeper philosophy or meaningful problem they’re actually trying to solve. And honestly, I’m worried a lot of them will follow the same path over the next few years. At least most of the old coins BTC, LTC, Zcash, Monero, etc… have been around for 10+ years and are still here, still running, and still being built on.
Blast will be shutting down. We launched Blast with the goal of building a self-sustaining chain for users and developers. Unfortunately, the economics of operating the chain no longer make sense: the ongoing costs of maintaining Blast exceed the revenue generated by the L2, and we do not see a credible path to making the chain economically sustainable. As a result, we've made the difficult decision to wind Blast down. We're sorry to the users and developers who believed in Blast, built on it, and supported the ecosystem. Our priority now is making the shutdown as smooth and safe as possible. We're asking all users to withdraw their assets from Blast to Ethereum mainnet, including any balances held in the Blast PWA. To make this easier, we will be reducing the withdrawal delay to 24 hours. As part of the shutdown process, we'll first begin withdrawing Blast's Lido assets. This process is expected to take approximately one week. During this period, withdrawals will temporarily be unavailable, even after the withdrawal delay is reduced to 24 hours. Once that process is complete, withdrawals will resume with the new 24-hour delay. Users will have until October 26, 2026 to withdraw through the normal Blast interface. After October 26, assets will remain withdrawable, but users will need to interact directly with the Blast bridge contracts on Ethereum L1. We'll publish detailed instructions before then. We strongly encourage everyone to withdraw their assets to Ethereum mainnet before October 26.

Took some time to read this @TachyonZcash article and this is what really stood out to me. We talk a lot about technologies like ZK and FHE but what I like about Tachyon is the infrastructure being built specifically around private money. The idea is pretty simple: Instead of every wallet doing the same heavy cryptographic work over and over again, Tachyon builds evidence of Zcash’s history once, and that evidence can be shared and reused. The proof tree, epochs, stamps and anchors all work together to make that possible. So wallets can verify what they need without having to start from zero every time. And this is what I find exciting about Zcash. It’s not just about having privacy. It’s about building the cryptographic infrastructure that can make private, permissionless money actually scale. Zcash is going deep. 🛡️
Tachyon grafts a Zcash wallet's state machine over a tree of recursive SNARKs. The most important artifacts of that process are accumulators, and we've specifically designed ours for transaction aggregation and non-membership proofs: tachyon.z.cash/blog/building…

Bitcoin has its own strengths and characteristics, and Zcash has its own. They don’t necessarily need to become the same thing. There’s value in having both approaches coexist and evolve in their own directions.
Quick take on the Shielded Bitcoin paper: *There are many brilliant people in the Bitcoin community and I’m grateful to have gotten to know some of them *Shielded Bitcoin is a very cool concept and I hope the authors are able to bring it to life *The goal is the add something like Zcash to Bitcoin, but Zcash already exists (and has been refined over time) *In my view, users looking for privacy preserving decentralized digital money will continue to gravitate toward Zcash $BTC $ZEC
