In 1948, Mariam's family was forcibly displaced from its home in the village of Hamama, less than 20 kilometers north of Gaza, which was ethnically cleansed and destroyed by the Zionists. Now, Mariam is displaced once again, trying to survive an ongoing genocide.
In recent years, Jews have erased the last remains of Hamama, in order to build a new settler neighborhood of Ashkelon named "Wine City".
