I analyzed @NassauExec Bruce Blakeman’s plan, and I have to be honest, this is the most common-sense proposal I’ve seen in a long time. Here’s how and who it helps, according to my analysis: The tax cut: Zero state income tax on your first $50,000 ($100,000 for married couples). Every taxpayer benefits from this, but it’s working and middle-class families who feel it most. A similarly structured proposal introduced in Albany estimates total relief at $37 billion over 10 years, with families saving close to $5,000 a year once fully phased in. The utility relief: $2.4 billion sitting unused in NYSERDA’s fund gets returned directly to ratepayers as bill credits, turning “cut your utility bill in half” from a slogan into a funded plan. Blakeman’s campaign says New Yorkers currently pay 70% more for energy than the rest of the country, with only 30% of a typical bill going toward the power itself. Based on New York’s average residential electric bill of roughly $220/month, cutting that in half would mean an estimated $110 back in your pocket every month. Who’s behind it: Polling cited in support of ending the state income tax shows 68% of New Yorkers, across party lines, in favor. This isn’t a fringe idea, it’s what people actually want from Albany. It’s time New York stopped being a state people flee and became a state people can afford to build a life in.

🚨BREAKING: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling for an end to pensions for Members of Congress. DeSantis has stated that congressional pensions should be eliminated. He noted that lawmakers already have access to the Thrift Savings Plan (a 401k-style defined contribution plan) and that the additional defined-benefit pension is an outdated perk. DeSantis himself declined the congressional pension when he served in the House. The proposal would put members of Congress on the same footing as most Americans, who no longer receive traditional pensions in the private sector. A straightforward demand for equal rules: no special lifetime pensions for politicians after just a few years in office.

In yesterday's @FoxNews interview with the DSA NYC co-chairwhatever, the topic of government-owned grocery stores was raised. The co-chairwhatever was asked how it would be fair to put small retailers out of business. Its response was (essentially) "They would deserve it." In the same way that "they deserve it" is applied to one small business owner, it could be applied to hundreds and thousands. Note the co-chairwhatever's ignorance: A government-owned store can undercut the competition thanks to its ability to offset expenses by using tax revenues, and thanks to the facts that it does not have to pay rent or taxes. Just feel the ignorance (but don't get too close).

Here it is: Virginia voters are waking up today shocked to find out that Virginia Democrats are voting to exempt themselves from the new gun control measures they are imposing—while letting out illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles into their sanctuary state. The provision in this section explicitly says, “shall not apply to any member of the General Assembly.”
