I’m not particularly worried about AI slop or copycat games burying great indie games.
More games being made doesn’t mean more great games are being made.
You can copy a mechanic, an art style, a trend, even an entire concept, but is much harder to copy its taste, vision, execution, and the thousands of small decisions that make a game actually good.
And genuinely great games, the ones made with care, obsession, and a stupid amount of work, tend to find their way to people. Slops remain slops.
A great game in a sea of great games has competition.
A great game in a sea of slop and copies has genuine word of mouth.
