Definition of anti AI? writing code by hand but taking help of AI agressively? writing code by hand but not at all taking help from AI? AI is truly amazing to expand your understanding horizons and find edge cases. At the same time, it also can make you a slop engineer.
If you are still an anti-AI dev, you'll obviously be out of a job in a couple of years (or you'll change your mind). Whether we like it or not, the world has changed and it will choose the least path of resistance towards technical advancement.

with the number and kind of hinge screen issues that are coming up with iPhone Duo: I am actually relieved that India is not the one manufacturing the units.

Let met expand this. It's good we are talking about a spectrum here. Let's divide SE's into three levels. level 1: top 5-10% (elite) level 2: Avg (I'm here and no problem if I remain here lifelong) level 3: bottom tier.
Hot take: it’s the second-rate programmers raving about ai. ai code is mediocre at best. I have yet to experience the “great leap in dev speeds” on frontier models when I have to baby it for quality. Even “A-listers” can have bad takes.

and remember, there are always exceptions. Take DHH, for example. A year and a half ago, he said that he can feel competency draining out of his fingers when he is prompting and not writing the code. Now he has done a total 180°.

Though we must remember that his beliefs, and thus his intensives, are different now. He is not an employee. He is riding the AI hype train and monetarily benefitting. I respect him for that.

Thus level 3's have no real edge. People can disagree with me, but I am placing my bets on these beliefs.

Level 2: Like me, they are skeptical, and they have reasons to be. We know that we can't use the AI to its full potential due to the knowledge gaps we have. Our incentives to learn more directly clash with the industry's incentive to ship more at any cost.

Level 1's are having there time of their life. Their fundamentals are rock solid. They are enthusiastic. (not raving). Basically, already 10x developers shipping more which is absurd. their supply is limited, though. And skill atrophy is real.

but engineering is solved, but, but you did not do step 1, step 2, step 3...step 10. but, but, but you did not use that specific agent. but, but, but, but token cost is irrelevant.
As I manually type more code (Yes I am a dinosaur) and review my code using AI tools, I am finding how bad AI suggestions are from an architectural perspective. It behaves like a teenager, who when asked to clean the room simply pushes all the garbage under the bed. When I confront AI with those bad decisions it says "Oh yeah you are right....". I really don't understand how people are 100% trusting AI and committing all the code without reviewing.

developer C who understand every architectural decision, edge case, and failure mode twice as fast using AI and thus naturally keep increasing the coding speed as it was never the bottleneck. AI is a fantastic tool, and we should be grateful for it !
Imagine two developers. Developer A writes code twice as fast using AI. Developer B writes code more slowly but understands every architectural decision, edge case, and failure mode. Who will be more valuable to a company in 2030? Or will the best engineers combine both approaches?

Maybe you do it for yourself only. Approaching a topic with the intent that you should be able to fully explain and teach it end to end to others is a great way of learning. That being said, it's definitely easier to say than to do. Incentives change person to person.
Things I’ve stopped doing because devs aren’t interested on them anymore (sadly): - Writing tech books - Writing tech articles - Tech courses

also, it's documentation for you yourself.

Yes. AI has increased the need to have the agency to go out of the way and learn stuff. And most people don't have that.
Have developers fully stopped learning? Something I am observing lately is that people don’t read tech books anymore, neither take courses. The only learning they do is through AI, and many times not even that, since they offload the complete thinking process to it.

where are the mythical standard Claude.md files?
To create my claude.md, I had it read: - my favorite programming books + blogs - the best oss projects - the code of the engineers I respect the most Claude (when given proper instructions, constraints, and context) now writes better code than me, almost always.
