My only unofficial rule for EGOT is you gotta get them for different achievements. In this house Whoopi’s daytime Emmy counts but half the cast of Dear Evan Hansen’s EGT for the same song does not
I feel like the “spirit” of the EGOT is to win each award in its intended field, no?? Like people who have Oscars for song of the year or whatever feels like it doesn’t count. That’s a Grammy to me lol

Crucial to this conversation that is often left out is access. It's not a huge conspiracy of critics, but the fact that many films from "outside the cannon" have gotten widely distributed restorations in the past 15 years. That's significant!
I think it's great that Jeanne Dielman is now well-enough-known to be frequently argued about. It speaks to the ways film culture has changed for the better. Back in my day, film culture was Harvey Weinstein commandeering every art-house cinema to show Mrs. Henderson Presents.
