Kennedy Wesley and Kristen McNabb are two of the best CB duos in NWSL this season and are a big reason why San Diego Wave's backline has played so well.
Wesley is on the USWNT and Emma Hayes was in attendance for last night's match.
With Girma injured why not call up McNabb?
Don't count San Diego Wave out of the NWSL Shield Race!
Gotham still has to play a surging Angel City side + Washington Spirit, Orlando Pride, and Utah Royals.
Wave has North Carolina Courage, Boston Legacy, and Bay FC left to play.
Only 3 points separate Gotham and Wave.
San Diego Wave is a legit contender for the NWSL Championship and as long as they keep playing the way they are they can go all the way.
Offense wins games, defense wins championships. Wave has a very good defense this year.
San Diego get ready for November playoffs!
LFGSD!!!
It's only fitting that San Diego Wave is back in the playoffs after beating the team that they struggled to beat in the past and Wave did it convincingly.
Wave can now focus on securing a top 4 finish for homefield advantage in the playoffs.
LFGSD!!!
Gia Corley is finding ways to score goals for San Diego Wave late this season and her positive form is why Wave is seeing even more success on the pitch.
Same starting XI as last match as Jonas Eidevall's preferred XI will try to clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight in Orlando.
If Wave draws Orlando then they can still clinch a playoff spot tonight if Seattle wins against North Carolina in the other NWSL game tonight.
Unless San Diego FC can find a way to make the playoffs this will be viewed as a lost season that had so much potential but ultimately a squad that underachieved.
Anders Dreyer who has been excellent is 28 years old and SDFC can’t afford to waste his career with the club.
There needs to be a sense of urgency right now within San Diego FC because the playoffs are slipping away.
A draw/loss to RBNY (Oct. 10) can’t happen. SDFC must win next week to keep pace for trying to make the playoffs.
Only 7 matches remain in the MLS regular season for SDFC.
With Seattle’s 2-1 win San Diego FC is now 4 points from the final 2 playoff spots and 6 points away from 7th which is the final automatic qualifier spot without having to play in the wild card round.
For now San Diego FC no longer controls its playoff destiny.

San Diego Wave can officially clinch a playoff spot tomorrow night with a win against Orlando.
There’s other ways to also clinch tomorrow but it’s win and you’re in for the rest of the season.
It won’t be easy because Orlando hasn’t lost to Wave in their last 5 meetings.
If you build it they will come and that is exactly what the Padres have done.
San Diego is 100% a sports city and if you understand how to connect with the community and you put a good product out there then San Diego will support you.
In the next 5 years San Diego FC wants to have a full squad of academy players playing first team minutes.
Looks like Mikey Varas will stay as manager and is part of this entire RTD project.
SDFC EVP Jeff Cook described Varas as an” incredibly supportive and brave manager.”
With the first fully residential academy setup in MLS, @sandiegofc and @right2dream are aiming to create truly world-class players both on and off the pitch.

No game 3 needed because the Padres are heading to the NLDS with a clean sweep of the Cubs!
Jobs not finished yet but that's how you get it done in the wildcard round. Let's Go Padres!
LFGSD!!!
ALT NLDS Bound Graphic. The background of the graphic is brown with a gold sky and brown palm trees. The top of the graphic features a 2026 MLB NLDS logo (presented by booking.com). Below that, large text reads “BOUND”. Surrounding the text are photos of the following players in the Padres home white pinstripe uniform: Fernando Tatis Jr., Jackson Merrill, Manny Machado, Gavin Sheets, Joe Musgrove, and Xander Bogaerts. The bottom of the graphic has a gold and white “Fight for the Faithful” logo.
At this point Messi is going to win MVP but are attacking players the only ones who can win the MVP in MLS?
Where's the defensive players? Brian Schwake leads MLS with clean sheets (12) and has a 77.2% save percentage according to FotMob but isn't in the MVP Power Rankings?
Some early preseason planning for next season as both San Diego FC and San Diego Wave will participate in the Coachella Valley Invitational.
Probably one of the most underrated preseason events out there and it’s a good experience for both the teams and fans.
See you in the desert ☀️
The Coachella Valley Invitational (CVI) powered by Fundamental, returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, for its sixth consecutive preseason soccer event.
Passes go on sale tomorrow! 🎟️
San Diego Wave players Melanie Barcenas, Kimmi Ascanio, and Gia Corley are called up to U23 USWNT for 2 matches against U23 Dominican Republic.
As part of the U23’s Barcenas, Ascanio, and Corley will train with the USWNT that has Wave players Kennedy Wesley and Trinity Byars.
