Engineer at heart, founder and CTO of @leaningtech. I make compilers: Cheerp, CheerpJ and CheerpX. My younger self wrote Lightspark: an open source flash player

Kudos to @YIozzelli for making Rust on BrowserPod possible in a ludicrously short amount of time.
New blog post: labs.leaningtech.com/blog/br… In the last month I have been working on Rust support for BrowserPod: you can now run any Rust CLI application in the browser, without changing any code! Here is a clip of OpenAI's Codex running in the browser:

Today we are releasing BrowserPod 3.0, with full support for Rust! 🦀 Rust supports WebAssembly natively, but with very limited "system level" access. The end result is that it's simply not possible to compile real world Rust applications for the Web platform. This changes today. On top of the BrowserPod kernel even extremely large Rust applications just work in the browser. To name a few: jj, ripgrep and even Codex! BrowserPod is a WebAssembly code sandbox that can run Claude Code in the browser. How is this possible, you might ask? Well, we just published a deep dive that explains it all. In short: we wrote a WebAssembly-native kernel that runs in your tab. labs.leaningtech.com/blog/br…

BrowserCode is released under the Apache License, version 2.0 and it's free to use and unlimited. All the data and execution stays completely local to the browser and it's persistent across sessions thanks to a disk backend based on the OPFS API or IndexedDB.

Excited to share BrowserPod 2.0 is now live. labs.leaningtech.com/blog/br… This release adds bash, git, and core Linux utilities to BrowserPod, which means running real development workflows directly in the browser. It is a big usability upgrade and a step toward richer browser based dev environments, agent sandboxes, and interactive tools. And yes, full agents in the browser are coming very, very soon 🙂

Can anybody put me in touch with somebody in the Hacker News moderation team? Our content keeps reaching front page and then being killed for unclear reasons notwithstanding genuine community interested. I won't lie, I am seriously pissed here.
