I built an Open Source Wolfram Physics explorer for visualizing multiway string rewriting systems. You define simple rules like (XoβoX), and watch the full space of possible evolution paths unfold.
Five views of the same underlying system:
β Multiway graph (every possible state the rules can reach, weighted by path count)
β Causal graph (the event structure showing which rule applications caused which)
β Branchial graph (states connected by shared ancestry, approximating projective Hilbert space)
β Branchial evolution (animated step-by-step growth of branchial structure)
β Spacetime hypergraph (Wolfram-style set substitution with emergent spatial geometry)
Hover any node or event and you see its full causal cone (past light cone and future light cone) highlighted in real time. This works across all five views btw.
The coarse-graining slider implements @jonathangorard observer model. At resolution 0 you see the full quantum superposition.
As you increase coarse-graining, branches merge via Knuth-Bendix completion (formally equivalent to wavefunction collapse). Orange edges are the observer's identification of "same enough" branches.
21 presets across 7 categories. The "Gorard Picks" section has three rulesets chosen for their causal invariance properties (the string analogue of observer-independent spacetime geometry).
12 physics tools: branchial distance heatmap, geodesic path finder, 3D branchial space embedding, energy density, causal invariance measurement, reference frame switching, dimension estimation, Ricci curvature, embedded observer, entanglement threads, tunneling detection, entanglement speed measurement.
// Technical details for the nerds:
Zero build step. Two files (index.html + worker.js). Serve and open.
Evolution runs in a Web Worker so the UI stays at 60fps during computation.
Click highlighting writes directly into GPU color buffers instead of rebuilding the scene (8ms vs 80ms).
Light mode skips the bloom compositor entirely (no wasted texture copies).
LOD text labels appear when you zoom in, some areas are powered by
@_chenglou's Pretext for DOM-free text measurement.
Keyboard shortcuts for everything (press ? to see them).
JSON graph export, PNG screenshots, URL hash state persistence.
All Three.js, all vanilla JS, all from CDN. No React, no build tools, no npm install.
