This is the McKinney recall handoff.
They say roughly 7,500 signatures collected and about 6,500–6,600 internally validated.
Then City Secretary Empress Drane takes over the process.
From here, the only number that matters is how many SURVIVE CITY VERIFICATION.
🚨EXCLUSIVE: The signatures are in.
McKinney residents have officially turned in signatures for the recall petition.
Project Veritas has been inundated with tips from McKinney residents alleging intimidation and efforts to discourage them from signing.
Today, despite that, residents delivered their signatures to City Hall.

Gina Hinojosa isn’t exactly coming out of nowhere.
Her father, GILBERTO HINOJOSA, chaired the Texas Democratic Party for more than a decade.
Her sister, XOCHITL HINOJOSA, worked for the DNC and became a CNN political commentator.
And one of Gina’s current donors is GREG WOOLDRIDGE, whose Tejemos Foundation was a major supporter of the progressive Texas Observer.
That’s a pretty tight TEXAS POLITICAL-MEDIA ECOSYSTEM.

And here’s another layer:
Lynne Dobson comes from the WHATABURGER FOUNDING FAMILY.
The family sold its controlling stake in Whataburger in 2019. That same year, Tejemos Foundation launched with roughly $50 million in initial funding.
Important: I have not found proof that the Whataburger sale directly funded Tejemos.
What we can document is:
Dobson family wealth → Tejemos Foundation → Texas Observer / KUT-Texas Standard / Austin civic projects → Greg Wooldridge → Gina Hinojosa donor.
That’s a much bigger ecosystem than one campaign check.

McKinney’s next regular Council meeting is October 5.
Now we find out how many signatures SURVIVE VERIFICATION.
McKinney Recall has surpassed 6,500 signatures, verified by our campaign. The City’s examination still lies ahead, but today I want to speak of the people who brought us here.
To our volunteers and supporters: this achievement belongs to you. You gave the hours. You stood in the heat. You approached strangers, heard their concerns, and returned the next day to do it again. What began as an undertaking by a few has become the work of thousands.
Take pride in that. You have earned it.

Remember that Muslim lawmaker from the bill map?
Suleman Lalani is a CERTIFIED MEDICAL DIRECTOR working in post-acute care.
Then he filed HB 2640, which would have required future Texas nursing-home medical directors to hold a PALTmed medical-director certification or an approved equivalent.
Basically: he ALREADY HAD the credential he wanted Texas to start requiring from others.
The bill died.
Still… lol.

Texas changed the House rules in 2025.
Democrats could no longer chair standing committees.
But they could still serve as vice chairs — and the same rules package made those vice-chair positions MORE CONSEQUENTIAL.
So the structure became:
REPUBLICANS KEEP THE GAVEL.
DEMOCRATS LOSE STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIRS.
VICE CHAIRS GAIN MORE LEVERAGE.
That’s why the placements matter.
