Many people with chronic heart failure experience pressure buildup inside the heart, which contributes to symptoms such as shortness of breath and fatigue. Interatrial shunting is an investigational device-based approach designed to relieve the excess pressure. The goal: create a small pathway or "pressure relief valve" for blood to flow from a higher-pressure chamber to a lower-pressure chamber within the heart.
