Dahi (fka DJ Dahi) announced his debut solo album with stacked features: Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Vince Staples, Channel Tres, French Anthony, Fousheé, Ravyn Lenae, Baby Rose, Moses Sumney, Amber Mark, Mez, Obongjayar, Kurtis Wells, Jesse Boykins III, Ant Clemons, and Elmiene.
‘Black Boy (Alternative)' is set to release August 28.
The debut follows more than a decade of Dahi working as a producer behind the scenes, with a collaboration list that includes Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, SZA, Drake, Madonna, Mac Miller, Nas, 21 Savage, Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, Baby Keem, Pusha T, Vince Staples, ScHoolboy Q, and Freddie Gibbs, among many others. In 2020, he won the Grammy for Best Rap Song for “a lot” with 21 Savage.
The album is described as “a powerful collection of songs that reflects Dahi’s extraordinary artistry, technical mastery, and lasting cultural impact,” via a press release. Thematically, ‘Black Boy (Alternative)’ is rooted in Dahi’s upbringing: “a tribute to the young boy who found himself in the sounds that surrounded him: the pulse of hip-hop and R&B, alongside the alternative and rock influences that captivated his imagination despite rarely being reflected back to him.”
The first two singles, “Rest Of Your Life” and “Find Me” featuring Moses Sumney and Mez, are out now.
