Know the names of the people who want to stop Mumbai from being free of slums.
Mumbai Congress president and MP Varsha Gaikwad will lead a delegation of MPs, MLAs and corporators to meet BMC commissioner Ashwini Bhide on Monday, September 28, over the civic body’s decision to demolish around 39,000 slum structures measuring 14 feet or more in height.
Congress has joined the opposition to the BMC move announced last week. The meeting is scheduled for 1pm, following which Gaikwad will address the media.

Gyanesh Kumar offering BJP ticket to Jiji Thomas has several holes in it.
From 2012–2016, Gyanesh Kumar was the Resident Commissioner of Kerala in Delhi. A coveted post, usually given to officers trusted by the Chief Minister. He was appointed to this role by Congress CM Oommen Chandy.
He then became a Joint Secretary in the Union Government — one of several hundred such Joint Secretaries in Delhi.
Now look at Jiji Thomas.
In 2016, Jiji Thomas was Kerala Chief Secretary. He was considered close to Oommen Chandy, who had appointed him despite strong opposition.
So why would BJP use a Joint Secretary, who had until recently held a politically coveted post under a Congress CM, to recruit another IAS officer who was also close to Oommen Chandy?
That too in 2016.

"India's Production Linked Incentive schemes disbursed Rs 36,754 crore to beneficiary companies by 30 June, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade confirmed today (25 September).
The schemes, launched in 2020 across 14 key sectors with an approved outlay of Rs 1.91 lakh crore, have generated employment for over 14.57 lakh people while attracting actual investments totalling Rs 2.58 lakh crore.
The initiative has driven production and sales worth Rs 23.79 lakh crore, with exports reaching Rs 15.53 lakh crore by the end of June."

A small chat with him opened my eyes: Behind the political noise is a massive operational reality: duplicate names, impossible age gaps in family records, and widespread non-response despite multiple deadline extensions of notices.
If we care about democratic integrity, taking 30 minutes to fix our own election records is the bare minimum.
You can’t demand clean voter lists while refusing to show up when asked. There’s always two sides to the story.
