Donald Trump's tariffs and war of choice in Iran are costing Illinois farmers their livelihoods. Today, I'm signing an Executive Order and issuing a state disaster declaration to provide emergency support, protections, and real relief from skyrocketing diesel prices.
Governor JB Pritzker issued a state disaster proclamation and signed Executive Order 2026-08 to provide relief on diesel fuel costs for the agriculture industry during the fall harvest season as part of his continued efforts to support Illinois farmers. The executive order directs the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) and the Illinois State Police (ISP) to allow on-road use of dyed diesel typically used for agricultural purposes. The Executive Order also directs state agencies to consider additional protections for farmers and gives the state greater flexibility to respond to continued disruptions in fuel markets and the agricultural economy.
