It was an honor to receive the Distinguished Service Award from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Our electric co-ops keep the lights on for communities across Minnesota and the country. We need to make it easier for them to do their job – including cutting red tape so they can deploy new energy sources and modernize the grid. That’s one way we lower energy costs.

Today the Senate had another chance to rein in Trump’s unilateral war with Iran. I voted to end this war – I have opposed it since Day One. But the vast majority of my Republican colleagues voted to allow this reckless and expensive war to continue. This war has already cost taxpayers more than $42 billion and saddled Minnesotans with crushing gas prices and rising costs. When is enough enough?

NEWS: I’m going to the Senate Floor now to vote to end the President’s war with Iran. Congress — and only Congress — has the power to declare war, and it's time to rein in this reckless war.

The next governor must stand up to the White House and stand up for affordable and accessible health care when Minnesotans need it.

President Trump calls higher prices “a very inexpensive price to pay” for his war in Iran. Tell that to the Minnesotans paying $4.38 for gas, and over $6.30 for diesel — while this administration asks for nearly $70 billion more to keep the war going.

Insulin is life-saving medicine. No one should have to go without because they can’t afford it. In the Senate, I was one of the leaders of the fight to cap insulin at $35 a month for seniors on Medicare. And I have kept fighting to extend that cap to every American. When Minnesota tried to implement a statewide insulin cap, my opponent voted no, twice. I’ll fight to pass that cap as Governor.

Great to meet with the Minnesota Transportation Alliance in DC this morning to discuss projects and priorities for strengthening our state’s transportation system. Investing in roads, bridges, and transit helps connect Minnesotans to work, school, and loved ones — and strengthens our economy.

The next Governor has to have a plan to help Minnesotans access affordable health care. I will take action to lower prescription drug costs and health care premiums, which are rising across the country and in Minnesota because of the Trump health care cuts that my opponent supported.

Health care is a top priority for me. That’s why I laid out a plan to make health care more affordable and accessible for Minnesotans. My opponent still doesn’t have a plan, but what we do know is this: she embraced Trump’s health care cuts, blocked bipartisan legislation to help hospitals, and opposed capping the cost of insulin. Minnesota needs a Governor who will stand up for them.

No one should have to worry about whether they can afford the care they need. But Trump’s health care cuts are putting coverage at risk for people in Minnesota and across the country — and driving up costs. Lisa Demuth called Trump’s health care cuts “good for Minnesota.” She won’t stand up to Trump even when Minnesotans need help. Today I joined Dr. Paul Thurmes and Kate, a fellow breast cancer survivor, to talk about what’s at stake for patients. I’ll fight for a future where patients can get the care they need when they need it.

I spoke with local officials in Waseca County as southern MN responds to flooding caused by heavy rain. 36 people were evacuated this weekend from a senior care center and my office will work with state and local staff to help those impacted to recover as quickly as possible.
