why there is so much speculation about an election call early next week - if Eby goes by Tuesday, election is Sat, Oct 24th, any later and it’s goes to Oct 31st (not ideal), then it’s Nov 7th, etc. If he waited until after the municipal elections Oct 17th, it’s Nov 21st.

For those wondering, there are 8 candidates who have filed to run for mayor. This is the least number that have run in Vancouver since the 1990 election when four candidates ran. ICYWW Gordon Campbell comfortably beat Jim Green (54% to 45%).
